Afternoon Tea At Little Lions

I grew up with animals (meaning pets, not in the jungle) and I love them to the point that I don't mind kissing or eating food that they bit.
The current apartment doesn't allow any pets, according to the management company when we asked about the process as the contract says, "Each time tenant must ask the management company." 
However there ARE tenants who let their dogs and cats run the hallway, we can't have any pets. (Such a BS.)
It's very frustrating for me as I spend lots of time at home alone as I don't really have friends here.

I've found 3 cat cafes in Manhattan, and I was thinking to go all of them one by one.
Last night, when I was going through all the websites and found that Little Lions has "Afternoon Tea in the Cat Sanctuary."

My husband booked online last night and we chose 3 sandwiches each from Grilled Three Cheese, Salmon and Cucumber, Vegetable Medley and Egg Salad.

At Little Lions, there're 2 glass doors and you go in to the cafe and goods shop from the left door and cat cafe is from the right.

Cat Cafe price list; 11 dollars/1hr and 6 dollars/30min.
Our afternoon tea was 36 dollars per person and includes 1 hour at cat cafe.

The cafe and merchandise space was bright and clean.

Left side of the shelves, there're 4 chairs looking into the cat cafe.
To use the cafe doesn't require reservation and I think you can sit by the window and looks at the cats through the window.

Though we're there earlier than our reservation time, they let us choose the tea and told us we could go to the cat cafe next door and they'd bring the food and drinks.
Tea Menu

I chose Velvet Tea from Desserts & Seasonal Blends.
"Sweet enticing chocolate swimming in a deep velvety base of organic  rooibos and refreshing mint leaves. The perfect answer to a dessert tea. The finish is smooth, complicated by a touch of vanilla."

I didn't noticed when I walked in, but there're hand-drawn cats with chalks and footsteps to the cat cafe from the cafe.

The steps led us to the cat cafe.

When we arrived at the door of the cat cafe, a staff opened the door for us.
I heard the door was locked after we entered, and it makes sense that only the staff can open the door from inside to prevent customers or random people from opening the door and possibly causing the cats run away.
The space near the door had some cats and they're sleeping.

Going up about 5 stairs, there're sofa seats and chairs with tables, and we could sit wherever we liked.
The staff said some rules that we can play with cats but when they're sleeping, we can only softly pat, we shouldn't feed any food, no flash photography, like simple and easy regulations to follows.
There're cats but many of them were sleeping, which is understandable as cats are nocturnal in habit.

This cat decided to sleep on my husband's laptop.

My cat at my parents house sleeps on my PC and phones, too, either using as a pillow or laying on it, and they might be coming for the machines because they get warm.

Middle: Grilled Cheese

Bottom: Egg Salad, Vegetable Medley and Salmon & Cucumber

Grilled Cheese was gooey, cheesy, and buttery.

This cat kept climbing up to the chair and table to try stealing foods.

We put our hands before the tea stand and held plates over our heads, then the staff came with a bottle of water spray, and as soon as she put the bottle in front of the cat, cat became quiet.

Vegetable Medley consisted of tingly sliced colorful radish and it's cream cheese spread.

Salmon & Cucumber also used cream cheese.

Cookie

It's a chocolate chip and colorful sprinkles cookie.

The bread was crispy and flaky, and the cheese was sweet and tasted like cream cheese.

It's chewy and similar to bread.

Velvet Tea

They wrote down the kind of tea on each cup so that it's easy to tell which cup was for me.

It's a little it reddish black tea with subtle sweetness and refreshing aftertaste.

The afternoon tea set was different from what hotels serve, but including the 1 hour in the cat cafe with tea, I thought it's not bad.

Time to time cats woke up and waked around, but they're not constantly active, thus, it's more like to watch the cats than playing with them.

The staff in the Cat Sanctuary (cat cafe) was attentive, talkative, and supportive when we had questions.

"Anna and Elsa's Frozen Fantasy" Afternoon Tea Set Inspired by Anna

私が育った環境には常に動物がいたこともあり、動物がかじった食べ物を気にせずに

食べられるほど私は動物が好き。
今住んでいるアパートの管理会社にペットを飼うための手続きについて聞いたところ、
契約書に「その都度管理会社に相談」と記載されているにもかかわらず「ペット禁止」の
一点張りで、廊下に犬や猫を走らせている居住者もいるのに、と腑に落ちないでいる。
私は友達と呼べる人がおらず、1日の大半を1人で家で過ごしているので、ペット不可と
言われてかなり残念。

マンハッタンに猫カフェを3軒見つけ、1軒ずつ回ってみようと思っていた。
昨晩全てのウェブサイトを見ていると、リトルライオンズでは「アフタヌーンティー イン 
ザ キャット サンクチュアリー（猫の聖域でアフタヌーンティー」というものがあった。

旦那がオンラインで予約をし、サンドイッチを3種類ずつ選んだ。
選択肢は3種類のチーズを使ったグリルドチーズ、サーモンとキュウリ、ベジタブル
メドレー、エッグサラダだった。

リトルライオンズは入り口が2ヶ所あり、左側のガラスドアがカフェやグッズ売り場で、
右側が猫カフェへ出入りするドア。

猫カフェの料金表； 11ドル/1時間、6ドル/30分
私たちが予約したアフタヌーンティーは1人36ドルで、1時間

カフェとグッズ売り場は明るく、綺麗だった。

棚の左側には椅子が4脚あり、猫カフェに向いていた。
このカフェは予約不要で利用でき、この椅子に座れば猫カフェの様子をガラス越しに
見ることができると思う。

予約時間よりも早く着いたけれど、お茶の種類を聞かれて猫カフェに行って良いと言われ
食べ物と飲み物はスタッフが持って行くと言っていた。

私はベルベットティーを選んだ。
「甘く誘惑的なチョコレートを、オーガニックのルイボスティーとすっきりしたミント
ティーとブレンド。後味は滑らかでバニラの香り」と説明があった。

入った時は気がつかなかったけれど、チョークで描かれた猫と猫の足跡がドアの前に
あった。

足跡をたどると、猫カフェに着いた。

猫カフェに着くとスタッフがドアを開けてくれ、私たちが入った後に鍵がかかった音が
した。
スタッフが内側からしかドアを開けられないのは、お客さんやお店の前を通った人が
勝手にドアを開けてしまったり、猫が逃げたりするのを防ぐためなのだと思う。
入ってすぐのスペースにも猫がいて、寝ていた。

5段ほどの階段を上ると、ソファー、椅子、テーブルが置いてあり、好きな席に座ることが
できた。
スタッフから決まりごとが説明され、寝ている猫は優しくなでる、食べ物を与えない、
フラッシュ撮影は禁止といった、簡単で言わば当たり前のルールだった。
沢山いた猫の多くは寝ていたのだけれど、猫は夜行性なので仕方がないと思った。

この猫は旦那のPCの上で寝ることにしたらしい。

実家の猫も私のパソコンや携帯を枕にしたり、自分が横になったりするので、温かいので

近づいてくるのかも。

アフタヌーンティーセット

上段： スイーツ

中段： 3種類のチーズを使ったグリルドチーズ

下段： エッグサラダ、ベジタブルメドレー、サーモンとキュウリのサンドイッチ

グリルドチーズはチーズがたっぷり入っていて、バターも塗ってあった。

この猫はテーブルや椅子に登って、食べ物を盗もうとしていた。

何度も手で遮り、お皿を頭より高く持って猫が食べないようにしていたら、スタッフが
水の入ったスプレーを持ってきて猫に向けると、猫はおとなしくなった。

ベジタブルメドレーは色鮮やかな大根やラディッシュのスライスで、クリームチーズが
塗ってあった。

サーモンとキュウリにもクリームチーズが使われていた。

クッキー
チョコレートチップとスプリンクルが入っていた。

パンはサクサクしていて、チーズは甘くクリームチーズに似ていた。

もっちりした食感で、パンに近かった。

ベルベットティー

お茶の種類がカップに書いてあったので、すぐに自分のお茶が分かって良かった。

少し赤みがかったお茶で、ほんのりした甘みがあり、後味はすっきりしていた。

アフタヌーンティーセットはホテルが出すものとは異なっていたけれど、猫カフェで1時間
過ごせ、お茶も付いていたのでなかなか良かった。

たまに起きて動き回る猫もいたけれど、活発に動いているわけではないので、猫と遊ぶと
いうよりも猫を見る、という空間だった。

猫カフェのスタッフは話しやすく、質問をすると色々と教えてくれた。
