McDonald's Szechuan Sauce

On October 7, 2017, a very limited number of Szechuan Sauce was brought back to McDonald's in the states, and I read so many bad and furious news about it; the sauce was available at select places as announced but some places had 5 cups while they said 100 cups.
Also, there's even a Tweet that he got many cups the day before because his friend's mother was a manager at a restaurant.
I was glad that I didn't line up for it but curious why people were crazy about this sauce.
Originally, this Szechuan Sauce was sold in 1998 as a promotion for Disney's movie "Mulan."
On April 1, 2017, a cartoon show called Rick and Morty mentioned this sauce, and many fans wanted the sauce back.
On October 7, 2017, the sauce was back but caused riots and people started a petition to bring back the sauce.
On February 26, 2018, McDonald's prepared 20 million pouches nationwide.
I thought of going to get the sauce on the day since the sauce is available as long as supplies last, but I was too tired to go out due to the lack of sleepless baby.
Today, 28th of February, my husband went to McDonald's and they still had the sauce and he got some for me.
The cashier knew about this sauce but other staffs who were giving products to the customers weren't aware of this, and my husband had to show the receipt to get the correct sauce.
When I opened the lid, I smelled sesame oil and sourness of vinegar.
The sauce was red-brown transparent and very starchy.
I tasted soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil and salt, and the taste was similar to Chinese food that is sold at the supermarket.
It's even similar to sweet-and-sour sauce available at American Chinese restaurants like Panda Express.
I thought it'd be much better than this; more flavorful, unique, original and last but not least, tastier.
To be honest, I much prefer McDonald's BBQ sauce more and I'm really glad I didn't line up for hours for this sauce which most likely I wouldn't have been able to get anyway.

それに関する沢山の怒りのニュースを読んだ； 事前に知らされていた通り、ソースは
限定店舗でのみ購入可能で、各店舗に100カップと言われていたものの、実際には5個程度
しかない店舗もあったとのことだった。
また、前日に「友達の母親がマネージャーなのでソースを沢山譲ってもらった」と投稿
した人もいた。
並ばなくて良かったと思ったと同時に、このソースがなぜこんなに人気なのか気に
なった。
1998年、ディズニー映画「ムーラン」が公開された際、プロモーションとしてセチュワン
ソースがマクドナルドで提供されたのが始まりらしい。
2017年4月1日、リック・アンド・モーティというアニメでこのソースが登場し、多くの
ファンが再販売を望んだとのこと。
2017年10月7日、ソースが再販売されたものの暴動騒ぎとなり、ファンが請願運動を
始めた。
2018年2月26日、全米でソースが2千万個用意された。
数量限定だったので26日に店舗に行こうと思ったけれど、赤ちゃんが全然眠らず疲れて
いたので、諦めた。
今日28日、旦那がマクドナルドに行くとまだあったので、買ってきてもらった。
レジはこのソースの存在を知っていたけれど、商品を渡すスタッフはこのソースについて
知らず、レシートを見せてやっとこのソースを渡されたらしい。
蓋を開けると、ごま油とお酢の香りがした。
ソースは透明な赤茶色で、かなりべたっとしていた。
醤油、お酢、ごま油、塩の味がし、スーパーで売られている中華料理のような味だった。
パンダエクスプレスのような、アメリカンチャイニーズのお店にあるような甘酸っぱい
味のソースにも似ていた。
もっと風味があり、ユニークで、美味しいソースを期待していたのだけれど、実際は全く
違った。
正直、私はマクドナルドのBBQソースの方がずっと美味しいと思う。
手に入らなかったであろうこのソースのために、昨年何時間も並ばなくて本当に
良かった。
