April 12 is National Grilled Cheese Day in the states, that I learned last year, my husband searched a grilled cheese shop in Montreal so that we can get some.
It's called "Edwinas Grilled Cheese."

"Fronut" sounds interesting...

Inside of the shop was cute and clean, and it looked like a cafe.

Fronut is a grilled, glazed donut filled with sharp cheddar.

When we ordered one classic grilled cheese and a soda, they recommended "The Total After School Special" which comes with 2 classic grilled cheese and 1 soda, so we switched to that, and also ordered one Fronut.
When I asked what they'd recommend, they said the famous ones are "The Cabane A Sucre" which is maple syrup and bacon or ham, and also "The Monkey's Uncle" that is Nutella and bananas, so we got the latter Fronut.

Classic Grilled Cheese

These are called "The After School Special" and it's a yellow American cheese on white bread.

The bread was buttered, but not too much and just a good amount to make the surface crispy and flavorful.

It had subtle garlic flavor, and I guess they used the griddle which cooked garlic before or used garlic butter.
The cheese was gooey, toast was crispy, and it's a very simple and tasty grilled cheese.

Fronut
I didn't know Monkey's Uncle is an idiom to express surprise.
It had Nutella and white sugar powder on the top.

It's very hot and I could see cheddar cheese was runny and slipping gout.

Banana and cheddar had similar color, so it's hard to see the different immediately.

Nutella had sweet and nutty flavor, banana was fruity, and to my surprise, they went well with sharp cheddar, especially with its saltiness.

4月12日はナショナル・グリルドチーズ・デーだと昨年知り、モントリオールにある

グリルドチーズのお店を旦那が探してくれ、食べることができた。

旦那が見つけたのは「エドウィナス グリルドチーズ」というお店。

店内はかわいらしく綺麗で、カフェのような印象。

グリルドチーズと「フロナッツ」のメニューがあった。

フロナッツはグリルし、砂糖がかかったドーナツで、熟成チェダーチーズが入っている

ものらしい。

クラシック グリルドチーズを1つとソーダを頼むと、「トータル アフタースクール 

スペシャル」というセット（クラシック2個とソーダ1つ）を勧められたので、それに

変更。

フロナッツは何がお勧めか聞いてみると、メープルシロップとベーコンかハムが入った

「The Cabane A Sucre」と、ヌッテラとバナナが入った「The Monkey's Uncle」が人気

だと教わり、後者を選んだ。

クラシック グリルドチーズ

これは「アフター スクール スペシャル」という種類で、白いパンに黄色いアメリカン

チーズが挟まれていた。

パンの表面にはバターが塗られていて、ギトギトするほどたっぷりではなく、表面を

カリッと香ばしく焼くのに適した量が使われていた。

バターにニンニクの風味がしたので、ニンニクを調理した鉄板で焼かれたか、もしくは

ガーリックバターが使われていたのだと思う。

チーズはとろっとし、パンはサクサクで、シンプルで美味しいグリルドチーズだった。

フロナッツ

モンキーズ アンクル（Monkey's Uncle）とは驚きを表す慣用句らしい。

上にヌッテラと白い粉砂糖がかかっていて、熱々でチェダーチーズが溶け出しているのが

見えた。

バナナとチェダーの色は似ていたので、すぐに見分けるのは難しかった。

ヌッテラは甘く濃厚なナッツの香りがし、バナナはフルーティで、意外なほどシャープ

チェダーと相性が良く、特にチェダーの塩気と合っていた。
