I learned that this month, February is Pancake Month, and Clinton Street Baking Company in lower East side would serve special flavors on weekdays through the month.

The time I'm in NYC is limited because I was in Montreal for La Poutine Week and will head back to Japan for a bit, but I found an interesting flavor called "Japanese Pumpkin Pancakes with Pumpkin Seed Streusel and Warm Maple Butter."
It's only available on the 11th and 12th, so I went to try it on the last day.

I noticed that there're to-go restaurant and eat-in restaurant though the last time I was here (November, 2014), there's only one establishment.

Though there're some customers waiting near the door, as I was alone, I could sit at the counter without waiting.

Menu

Inside of the counter, there's a griddle and one staff with a bucket full of pancake batter was making pancakes.
The griddle seemed to be able to hold up to 9 pancakes.

Every time the pancakes were placed on the plates, they're not served yet rather sitting there for 3 minutes or even longer.
And at one point, he started cleaning the grille and equipments so that I didn't see him making my pumpkin pancakes.
I kept wondering when I'd get my pancakes, then all of the sudden, the Japanese Pumpkin Pancakes were brought from the back of the kitchen.
Maybe the pancake-making staff only makes the famous blueberry/banana/chocolate pancakes???

Japanese Pumpkin Pancakes with Pumpkin Seed Streusel and Warm Maple Butter

The orange colored sauce was pureed pumpkin and it had pumpkin spice flavor...
When I read "Japanese Pumpkin Pancakes," I really hoped it wouldn't have any spices but it did unfortunately.

It's topped with roasted pumpkins and pumpkin seeds.

There're also streusel, which is rough texture topping consisting of butter, flour and sugar.

There're some large chunks and they're crunchy.

Not only on the top, but there're diced pumpkins, pumpkin seeds and streusel in the center of the pancakes.

The edge of the pancakes was light and crispy while the inside was soft and fluffy.

It's browned on the surface but it's not burned at all yet just perfectly grilled.

Pumpkin was sweet and moist, and I really enjoyed the natural sweetness of the vegetable.

Though I'm not a fan of pumpkin spice, I actually liked this pumpkin pancakes.

Especially when I used maple butter, the maple flavor was rich enough to cover some spices, but the maple butter was COLD, not warm at all, that was a bit disappointing.

今月（2月）は「パンケーキの月」のようで、ロウアーイーストにあるクリントン

ストリート ベイキングカンパニーでは平日のみ日替わりで特別フレーバーが提供されて
いると知った。
プーティンウィークでモントリオールに行ったり、中旬以上に日本に少し帰ったりする
のでお店に行ける日が限られていたものの、「ジャパニーズ パンプキン パンケーキ 
パンプキンシード シュトロイゼル、温かいメープルバター添え」という気になるものを
見つけた。
このパンケーキは11日、12日限定だったので、最終日の今日のお昼過ぎに行って来た。

以前（2014年11月）来た時はお店は1個だったけれど、今回はテイクアウトのお店と飲食
するお店が分かれていることに気がついた。

ドアの近くで待っているお客さんが何人かいたけれど、私は1人だったので待たずに
カウンターに座ることができた。

カウンターの中には鉄板があり、1人のスタッフがパンケーキを焼いていた。
この鉄板では同時に9枚のパンケーキが焼けるようだった。
焼きあがったパンケーキがお皿に乗せられるたび、すぐにお客さんの元へ運ばれるわけ
ではなく、3分もしくはそれ以上の間カウンターに置かれたままだった。
また、そのスタッフが鉄板と道具を清掃し始めたので、私のパンケーキが焼かれないまま
だった。
頼んだパンケーキがいつ食べられるのだろうと思っていたところ、突然キッチンの奥から
ジャパニーズ パンプキン パンケーキが出された。
パンケーキ専門で焼いていたスタッフは、有名なブルーベリー、バナナ、チョコレート
入りのものしか焼かないのかもしれない。

オレンジ色のソースはカボチャのピューレで、パンプキンスパイス味だった。
「ジャパニーズ パンプキン パンケーキ」と見て、文字通り日本のカボチャを期待していた
ので、スパイスが入っていたのは残念だった。

パンケーキの上にはローストしたカボチャと、パンプキンシードが乗っていた。
バター、小麦粉、砂糖を混ぜたシュトロイゼルというトッピングもかかっていて、中には
ゴロゴロした塊もあり、これらはカリッとした食感があった。
トッピングだけではなく、パンケーキの中心にもカボチャとシュトロイゼルが入って
いた。

パンケーキの端は軽くサクサクし、内側は柔らかくふんわりしていた。
表面は茶色に焼けていたけれど、焦げているのではなく完璧な焼き加減だった。
カボチャは甘くしっとりし、自然な甘さで美味しかった。
パンプキンスパイスは苦手だけれど、このカボチャ パンケーキは意外と食べやすかった。
特にメープルバターをかけると、濃厚なメープルの香りでスパイスが上手くカバーされて
いた。
ただ、メープルバターは温かくなく完全に冷えていたのは期待外れだった。
