Red, White & Blue Slam From Denny's

I'd never been to Denny's in the states, and I was very curious and interested in trying.
While we're in LA, we found one and I paid my first visit ever in the US.
They're famous for all-day breakfast menus including "Build Your Own Grand Slam."
They had a monthly special menu called "Red, White & Blue Slam" and I decided to get this one.
It consists of 2 buttermilk pancakes with blueberries and fresh strawberries on the top with cream cheese icing and whipped cream, 2 eggs, 2 bacon strips (pork or turkey) or 2 sausage links and hash browns.
I chose 2 pork bacon strips and I asked only egg white.
While waiting, I was sipping hot tea.
Soon all the dishes were brought.
Red, White & Blue Slam
They separated pancakes from the other items, which was better for me asI didn't want syrup to invade egg, bacon or hash browns.
This is a plate of non-sweet items.
Hash Browns
They were very finely shredded, crispy outside and moist and soft inside.
It's not seasoned, so you can add salt, peppers and ketchup if you'd like.
With salt, pepper and ketchup.
Egg White
This egg white seemed much more than 2 eggs' portion, and it was so fresh, fluffy and tasty.
I could see melted butter or oil around the egg white but it wasn't greasy and just so good!
Bacon Strips (Pork)
They're very crispy and you can see how crispy the piece was as it kept the shape when I picked it up with a fork.
It had saltiness and no condiment was needed.
Red, White & Blue Pancakes
2 thick blueberry pancakes with fresh strawberries, cream cheese frosting and whipped cream.
In the pancakes, there're a lot of whole blueberries.
It definitely explained the name of the dish; blue from blueberry, red from strawberry, and white from cream cheese icing and whipped cream.
Blueberries and strawberries were sweet and sour, buttermilk pancakes were flavorful and soft, cream cheese frosting was so sugary that I couldn't taste whipped cream.
Without maple syrup, it's already very sweet.
However, with maple syrup, it added some moist and it's easier to swallow.
Though it's called Red, White & Blue Slam, I could finish all without a problem.
"Slam" comes from "grand slam" from baseball and it means full bases with home run, so it's supposed to mean "a lot of food."
I think the reason I could eat them all was I was starving and also they're all really tasty.
The branch we went to was very clean, and the waiter was very thoughtful and kind.
He gave us enough time to choose plates, came back to add hot water for my tea, asked us if we needed extra napkins or hot sauce, and came back to check if the foods were ok.
He's always smiling and taking care of other customers, too, and I felt pretty comfortable.
My first Denny's experience was excellent; great food and hospitality.

アメリカのデニーズに行ったことがなく、いつか行ってみたいと思っていたところ、
ロスで見つけた店舗に入ってみた。
こちらのデニーズは朝食メニューが一日中食べられることで有名で、メニューの中には
自分で好きな商品を選んで自分だけの朝食セットを組み立てるものもある。
「今月のメニュー」として出ていたのが「レッド、ホワイト&ブルー スラム」という
朝食メニューだったので、これを注文することにした。
内容は、ブルーベリー入りのバターミルクパンケーキが2枚（イチゴ、クリームチーズ
アイシング、生クリームのトッピング）、卵2個、ベーコン（豚か七面鳥を選択可）2枚か
ソーセージ2本、ハッシュポテト。
私は豚肉のベーコンを選び、卵は白身だけで調理してもらうようにお願いした。
料理ができるまで、温かい紅茶を飲んで待った。
少ししてから料理が運ばれてきた。
パンケーキは他のアイテムとは別のお皿に盛られていた。
シロップが卵やベーコン、ハッシュポテトに付くのが嫌だったので、このように提供して
もらえて良かった。
ハッシュポテト
細く削られたポテトの外側はカリッとし、内側はしっとり柔らかいじゃがいもだった。
下味が付いていないので、必要であれば塩、胡椒、ケチャップなどをかける。
まずはそのまま食べ、その後に塩胡椒、ケチャップをかけて食べた。
白身の卵
卵2個分よりも量が多そうな白身は作り立てで柔らかく、とにかく美味しかった。
調理時に使われた溶かしたバターか油が白身の周りにかかっていたけれど油っぽさは
なく、ぺろりと食べられた。
ベーコン（豚）
カリカリに調理されていて、フォークで持ち上げても元の形を保ったままだった。
塩気があり、このままでとても美味しかった。
レッド、ホワイト&ブルー パンケーキ
2枚の分厚いブルーベリー入りパンケーキの上には生のイチゴ、クリームチーズ
フロスティング、生クリームが乗っていた。
パンケーキの生地の中には沢山のブルーベリーが丸ごと入っていた。
商品名に関連する色が全て使われているパンケーキだった。
ブルーベリーとイチゴは甘酸っぱく、バターミルクパンケーキは香りが良くふんわり
とし、クリームチーズフロスティングはかなり甘く、生クリームの味が分からないほど。
メープルシロップが別添えになっていたけれど、かけなくても十分甘かった。
ただ、メープルシロップをかけると少し水分が加わったのか、飲み込みやすくなった。
レッド、ホワイト&ブルースラムという名前だけれど、残さず完食。
この「スラム」という言葉は野球の「グランドスラム」から来ていて、満塁ホームランを
意味するため、「大量のメニュー」ということらしい。
お腹が空いていたことと、どれも美味しかったため難なく食べきれたのだと思う。
私たちが行った店舗は清潔で、テーブル担当のウェイターはとても親切だった。
メニューをゆっくり選ばせてくれ、紅茶の差し湯を持って来てくれ、ナプキンやホット
ソースが必要か聞いてくれ、食べ物は美味しいか確認しに来ていた。
このウェイターは常に笑顔で他のお客の対応もしていて、かなり居心地が良かった。
アメリカでの初デニーズは、美味しい食べ物とホスピタリティのお蔭で最高だった。
