Tomatti Lemon Sorbet From Baskin Robbins

While I was in NYC, I read an article about tomato flavored sorbet was sold at Baskin Robbins in Japan.
It's called Tomatti Lemon Sorbet and it's launched on July 1, 2015.
Yesterday, I went to Baskin Robbins and bought 6 kinds of ice cream to-go, and my first choice was this Tomatti Lemon Sorbet.
According to the description, it's a mix of ripe tomato and sour lemon.
And to enhance the ingredients' flavors, they smashed whole tomatoes to make this sorbet with a bit of salt.
I like fresh tomatoes, ketchup and soup, but I'm not a big fan of tomato juice, depending on the brands or seasonings, and I was very curious what it would taste like.
It had a subtle green scent like real tomato has, but it's not that intense.
When I had a bite, it had sour lemon flavor first but soon raw tomato flavor appeared.
I was quite surprised how tomato it was and it really tasted like tomato juice with some lemon.
At the end, I noticed some saltiness but it didn't really take away the veggie flavor of tomato.
I thought it's not that bad, but I don't think I'd but this in the near future.
If you don't like tomato, it's too risky to try a whole scoop and I highly recommend a tasting before you buy.

ニューヨークにいる間、日本の31アイスでトマト味のシャーベットが発売されたと
知った。
「トマッティレモンソルベ」という商品名で、2015年7月1日に発売されたらしい。
昨日31アイスへ行き、6種類のアイスをテイクアウトで注文した中で、このトマッティ
レモンソルベが最初に選んだものだった。
説明によると、熟したトマトと酸味のあるレモンを混ぜたものらしい。
素材の旨味を引き出すためにトマトを丸ごとつぶし、塩を加えてある。
私は生のトマトやケチャップ、スープは好きだけれど、ブランドや味付けによっては
トマトジュースはあまり好きではないので、どのような味がするかとても興味があった。
トマトのような青臭さはあったものの、強い香りではなかった。
一口食べてみると、酸味のあるレモンの味が最初に出て来て、その後すぐに生のトマトの
味が広がった。
かなりしっかりとしたトマト味で驚き、トマトジュースに少しレモンを加えたような
フレーバーだった。
最後に少し塩味がしたものの、トマトの野菜臭さを取り除くことはできなかった。
不味くはないけれど、またすぐに買うことはないと思う。
もしトマトが苦手な人は、買う前に味見させてもらうのがお勧め。
