Now Slime Pancake Is Available At Artnia
アルトニアでスライムパンケーキを発売

I came back to Japan for a bit and yesterday, I went to Artnia for the second time, the one and only Square Enix's official shop & cafe in Shinjuku, as I was near the area.
I've been to the cafe once to try Chocobo pancake (real name is "chocolate pancake"), which has Chocobo (a yellow bird from Final Fantasy) art on the surface.
* The character is random the menu said.

When I was at Artnia, I asked a waiter if I could see the menu before I seat because I didn't know if there's anything new to order.
On the very backside, I saw Slime shaped pancake and it's not there May in 2013, and I decided to order it and they let me sat.

According to a release, the Slime pancake was launched on December 20, 2013.
Artnia used to serve Final Fantasy only but they started creating Dragon Quest menu.

I was at a table around noon and there're 6 groups before me.
I ordered one Slime pancake without having trouble deciding what to get.
On the menu, it says, "The famous Slime from Dragon Quest became a pancake served with phrases on chocolate commando plates.

Soon the table was prepared with cutlery and napkins.

Same as last time, it takes pretty long for them to serve food and after 20 minutes, I got my Slime pancake.

There're 3 Slime shaped pancakes on a white plate with 2 little chocolate commando windows, vanilla ice cream and almond slices, whipped cream and chocolate sauce, blueberries, a raspberry, and bananas.

A sad fact is the Slime face is printed only on the top pancake.

And also, the pancakes weren't hot and even butter didn't melt over the pancakes.
So I put little pieces of butter between pancakes instead.

Pancakes were very thick and fluffy.
The texture was moist, dense, but soft.

The command plates were 2.
On the left, there's a list of actions to choose by Hero, but as a default, the arrow points "eat."
Other actions are to escape, defense, and use a weapon.

On the right, it says, "A Slime appears!"

First I thought command plates were made with milk chocolate and white letters and frames were printed.
However, it's actually opposite; they used white chocolate and printed with brown color and left the frame line and letter out.

If you like Dragon Quest, Slime, and have time to wait for the food, this could be a nice place to try the pancake and other Square Enix's game characters.

少し日本に戻ってきていて、昨日は新宿にあるスクウェア・エニックスの世界で一つだけの
オフィシャルショップ＆カフェ「アルトニア」を再訪。
以前同じカフェでチョコボパンケーキ（正式名称：チョコレートパンケーキ）を食べたことがある。
このパンケーキには、チョコボ（ファイナルファンタジーに出てくる黄色い鳥）の焼印が
押されている。
* ただし、メニューにはキャラクターは無作為に選ばれると記載あり。

席に着く前に何か新しいメニューがあるか確認しておきたかったので、
アルトニアに入り、ウェイターにメニューを見せてもらえるか聞いてみた。
メニューをめくっていると、一番後ろに2013年5月には無かったスライムパンケーキがあり、
それを注文しようと席に通してもらった。

リリースによると、スライムパンケーキが登場したのは2013年12月。
それまではファイナルファンタジーに因んだメニューのみの展開だったけれど、ドラゴンクエストの
キャラクターも扱い始めたらしい。

席に着いたのは12:00頃で、6組ほどが座っていた。
迷わずスライムパンケーキを注文。
メニューには「ドラゴンクエストでおなじみのスライムを形どったメープルシロップ味のパンケーキ
コマンド型のチョコプレートにはゲームにちなんだセリフを楽しめます」と説明があった。

テーブルにナイフ、フォーク、ナプキンが運ばれてきた。
前回と変わらず注文してからかなり時間がかかり、20分後にスライムパンケーキが出された。
白いお皿にはスライムの形をしたパンケーキが3枚、小さなチョココマンドが2枚、バニラアイスと
アーモンドスライス、ホイップクリームとチョコソース、ブルーベリー、ラズベリー、バナナが
乗っていた。

残念なのは、スライムの顔がプリントされているのは一番上のパンケーキのみ。
また、パンケーキがぬるい状態で出されたため、バターが溶けなった。
そのためパンケーキの間にバターの欠片を置いて溶かした。

パンケーキは厚みがあり、ふっくらしている。
食感はしっとり、密度が詰まっていながら柔らかい。

コマンドプレートは2枚で、左側のプレートには取る行動の選択肢が並んでいる。
ただし、ゲームと違って選択できず、「食べる」に矢印がついている。
選択肢は他に「逃げる、防御、道具」があった。
右側のプレートには「スライムがあらわれた！」の文字。

最初はチョコのコマンドプレートがミルクチョコで出来ていて、ホワイトチョコレートで文字や
フレームが描かれているのかと思っていたけれど、その反対だった。
ホワイトチョコの上に茶色が使われ、フレームや文字が白く残されていた。

ドラクエやスライムが好きで、食べ物を待つ時間があれば、このスライムパンケーキや
他のドラクエキャラクターメニューを試してみると良いかも。
