Elaines Silver Dollar Pancakes From Fairway Cafe

On the way back to the apartment from a movie in the morning, we stopped by at Fairway Cafe.
It's on the 2nd floor of Fairway Market on 74th and Broadway.
Until I researched pancake places in Upper West, I didn't know the supermarket had its own cafe and I was interested in.
We got there 11:45 AM on Saturday and the place was 90% full and luckily we're seated without waiting at all.
Menu
I was already decided what to get before visiting this place, and it's called "Elaines Silver Dollar Pancakes with Pure Maple Syrup."
It's actually on the front page of the menu, but I didn't think they'd serve that many stacks of pancakes.
In the display, I could see some sweets and quiche, and behind this, there's a kitchen.
Elaines Silver Dollar Pancakes was much smaller than I thought, but my husband said this is what Silver Dollar Pancakes mean and I could have noticed by comparing the size of blueberries and pancakes from the photo on the menu.

I counted them and there're 8 mini pancakes.
It's not piled neatly like the menu photo, so after spreading butter on each pancake, I re-stack them straight to take another photo.
This is my weird habit, but I love to eat multiple sheets of pancakes at once especially when each pancake is thin.
I was satisfied by eating 8 layers of pancakes at once, but these pancakes had strong burnt bitterness and saltiness.
As you can see, the pancakes were dark brown, not golden brown, and there're 7 cooked-too-long pieces and only 1 piece had tasty pale brown looks.
I thought this pancake for 9.50 dollars (before tax) was way too expensive besides the burnt pancakes, and I feel like diners in general serve better quality and more quantity for the same price.
Learning there's a cafe, I got excited, but unfortunately the pancakes weren't something I wanna come back again for.
Once it got busier, our waiter didn't come to us at all while we wanted to get a check.
Then another waiter came and asked us if we needed something, so we could ask him the check instead.
It was nice of him, but he took our credit card away without a bill, so it's a little bit uncomfortable, yet at least we got a list of breakdown when to sign the receipt.

朝に映画を見た帰り道、ブロードウェイ通りの74丁目にあるスーパー「フェアウェイ
マーケット」の2階にあるフェアウェイ カフェに行った。
アッパーウエストにあるパンケーキお店を検索していた時に見つけ、スーパーの上にある
のも珍しいと思い気になっていた。
土曜の11時45分に着くと店内の9割が埋まっていたけれど、運良く待たずに座ることが
できた。
お店に行く前から「エレインズ シルバーダラー パンケーキとピュアメープルシロップ」を
注文すると決めていた。
メニューの表紙に使われている写真がこのパンケーキだけれど、写真は実際よりも多くの
パンケーキが乗っていると想定済み。
ディスプレーにはスイーツやキッシュが並べてあり、この後ろにキッチンがあった。
エレインズ シルバーダラー パンケーキは思っていたよりもずっと小さく、旦那によると
この小さいパンケーキのことをシルバーダラー パンケーキと呼ぶようで、メニューの表に
載っていた写真を見てブルーベリーとパンケーキの大きさを比べれば分かるよ、と言わ
れた。
* シルバーダラー（Silver Dollar）は昔流通していた硬貨の種類
数えてみると小さなパンケーキが8枚乗っていた。
メニューとは異なりまっすぐに積まれていなかったので、バターを1枚1枚に塗りながら、
綺麗に積み直して再度撮影。
私の変な癖なのだけれど、パンケーキを食べる時は全ての層を一度に食べるのが好きで、
パンケーキが薄い場合は特にこうすることが多い。
8枚を一度に食べたのは初めてでかなり満足だったのだけれど、味は焦げた苦味が強く
塩気も強かった。
パンケーキを見て分かるように、きつね色を通り越して濃い茶色のパンケーキが7枚で、
淡い焼き色で美味しそうに見えたパンケーキは1枚だけだった。
焦げていたことに加え、9.50ドル（税抜）は高すぎると思った。
通常、ダイナーでは同じ値段でももっと良い出来で、量も多い。
スーパーの上にカフェがあると知り楽しみにしていたのだけれど、このパンケーキは再訪
したくなる味ではなく残念だった。
お店が更に混んでくると、テーブル担当のウェイターが全然こちらへ来なかったので
なかなか伝票をお願いすることができなかった。
すると他のウェイターがこちらへ来てくれたので、会計を頼むことができた。
ただ、伝票を渡されないままクレジットカードを持って行かれたので少し気持ちが
悪かった。
署名をするレシートには注文したものが列挙されていたので、間違いがないことが確認
でき、安心できた。
