I saw many photos of rainbow colored grilled cheese on SNS, and the now-so-trendy swirls aren't used in the bread but in the cheese.
The grilled cheese is named "Unicorn Melt" and sold at Chomp Eatery & Juice Station in Santa Monica.

When I was in the west coast for the weekend, I planned carefully and I visited this spot midmorning.
The shop stands side by side with other small shops, not an individual establishment and the sign was very simple like other shops.

I got there at 10:20 AM on Friday, and there're some people eating inside and also constantly customers were coming in.

They have 3 kinds; Unicorn Melt (2 slices of bread), Unicorn 4X4 (4 slices of bread = double portion of Unicorn Melt) and Unicorn Chicken Melt.

They make cold-press juices, also.

Food Menu
Breakfast, salad, burgers and sandwiches besides Kid's Menu at the bottom.

In the showcase, there're cold-press juice, classics and lemonade in light bulb shaped bottles.

I got "Unicorn Melt," the item I was here for, and "Strawberry Lemonade."
They asked my name and I got "CHAISHRO."

There're many tables and chairs, which were all clean, and soon the cute Strawberry Lemonade was served.

Strawberry Lemonade

I think the bottle was about 20cm (7.87 inch) tall, and the tip of the bulb was flat so that it's stable.

Screwing the metal cap, I saw a plastic lid.

Fruit flesh and strawberry seeds were sunk so that I shook the bottle well before opening the plastic lid.
It had sour lemon flavor with sweet and sour strawberry.
It contains agave and this lemonade was lightly sour and quite fruity.

You can take this bottle wit you, so I rinsed it before putting it in my bag.

Unicorn Melt

Bread was grilled to perfect and buttered, and it smelled very good.

With Organic Agave Strawberry Lemonade.

I could see the colorful cheese.

When I was taking photos, the staff who brought me Unicorn Melt asked if I needed a help to take videotape when I split the sandwich, and I thought it's so thoughtful of her.
When I go out alone, I always take videos and photos by one hand, and I did the same this time.

It's served hot and you can see steam came out when I split the grilled cheese.

The cheese was melty and stringy, and it's colored pink, blue, purple and green.

It's so colorful that it's hard to think it's really cheese.

The bread was grilled crispy and I could even hear the sound, and as both sides were buttered, it had buttery flavor.
The cheese had some sharp flavor similar to gruyere cheese, and also it had nutty flavor like raclette.

This grilled cheese consisted of crispy bread, generous amount of melted gooey cheese and butter, and I really enjoyed this.

Friendly staffs and clean interior, and if you're around, it's definitely a great spot to enjoy some food and juice.

Super Duper Weenie

SNSで最近何にでも使われている虹色のグリルドチーズの写真を沢山見て、パンでは

なく、チーズがレインボーカラーになっていた。
これはサンタモニカにあるチョンプ イータリー＆ジュース ステーションで「ユニコーン
メルト」という名前で販売されている。

週末に西海岸へ行ったので、慎重に計画を立てて午前中にお店に行って来た。
独立した建物ではなく他の小さなお店と軒を連ねていて、隣同士のお店と同じように
シンプルな看板で派手ではなかった。

金曜日の10時20分に到着すると、店内には食事中のお客さんも何人かいて、お客さんは
絶えずお店に入って来ていた。

ユニコーン メルト（2枚のパンに挟まれたもの）、ユニコーン 4X4（パン4枚＝ユニコーン

メルトの倍の量）、ユニコーン チキンメルトの3種類があった。

フードメニュー
朝食やサラダ、バーガー、サンドイッチがあり、下にはキッズメニューがあった。

ショーケースにはコールドプレス ジュース、クラシック、電球型のボトルに入った
レモネードが数種類あった。

目的だった「ユニコーン メルト」と一緒に、「ストロベリー レモネード」を頼んだ。
名前を聞かれ、レシートには「CHAISHRO（チャイシュロ）」と入力されていた。

綺麗なテーブルと椅子が沢山あり、すぐにかわいいストロベリー レモネードが出された。

ストロベリー レモネード

ボトルは20センチほどの高さたあったと思う。
電球の先は平になっていたので安定していた。

金属のキャップを回して外すと、プラスチックの蓋がついていた。

果肉とイチゴの種が沈んでいたので、よく振ってからプラスチックの蓋を外した。
酸っぱいレモンと、甘酸っぱいイチゴの味がし、アガベシロップが使われているので
軽い酸味とフルーティーな味が楽しめた。

このボトルは持ち帰って良いので、お手洗いですすいでから鞄に入れた。

ユニコーン メルト

美味しそうな色に焼けたパンにはバターが塗られていて、とても良い香りがした。

オーガニック アガベ ストロベリー レモネードと一緒に。

カラフルなチーズが見えた。

写真を撮っていると、ユニコーン メルトを出した店員が「サンドイッチを半分に割る時に
ビデオを撮りましょうか？」と言ってくれ、とても親切だと思った。
1人で出かける時は片手で撮影するので、今回も自分で動画を撮った。

熱々の状態で出されたので、半分に割った時に湯気が見えた。

チーズは溶けて糸を引き、ピンク、青、紫、緑色になっていた。

とてもカラフルで、チーズとは思えない色だった。

パンは音がするほどカリカリに焼けていて、バターが塗られていたので香ばしさと良い
香りがあり、チーズは少しピリッとしてグリュイエールに似た風味があり、ラクレットの
ようなナッツのような香りもあった。

このグリルドチーズはサクサクしたパンに、とろっと溶けたチーズがたっぷり挟まれて
いて、バターもしっかりと塗ってあり、とても美味しかった。

優しい店員と綺麗な店内で、食べ物とジュースを楽しむのにぴったりの場所だった。
