Poutine From Patati Patata
Patati Patata

(Japanese follows. /

Today, we went to one of the poutineries in my must-visit list.
It's called Patati Patata and this poutinerie always comes up in a list when I searched for best poutine in Montreal.

My husband couldn't remember the name of the restaurant and kept saying weird names like "Patiti Papapa" and "Patata Papapa."
In the end, he started parodying "Hakuna Matata" from the Lion King with "Patati Patata," which has been stuck in my head.

A list of the poutines we've had is below.
Frite Alors!
McDonald's
La Banquise
Pizza Hut
Burger King
Poutineville
A&W
KFC
Five Guys
iBurger
Sesame
Lola Rosa
McKibbin’s Irish Pub
Monsieur Restaurant + Bar
Poutine Centrale
Imadake Izakaya
Monsieur Restaurant + Bar (dessert poutine)
Le Gourmet Burger
Frite Alors! (lobster)
Dive Bar
Pommes Frites
True Burger Co.
Hooters
McDonald's (Buffalo Chicken Poutine)
Wendy's
KFC (to-go)
Moishes
Harvey's
Franx Supreme
Mange Moi
Sesame (Thai Chicken)

Under the sign, it says, "Friterie de luxe" --- luxury french fry shop --- but it's a little poutinerie which has an easy-to-go-in atmosphere, I'd say, but with colorful painting outside, you wouldn't miss it.
The front is blue and the side is yellow; so vivid.

We got there around 6:40 PM and the eatery was full except a couple of seats at the counter, so we sat at the counter.
There're 2 staffs taking orders, cooking, and taking care of cash register.
It's like dinner time, so there're many customers for to-go also.
Those who were taking food away picked up a little memo set aside the cash register to check items they wanted and handed to a staff.
We ordered 2 cokes first and they're served soon with straws.
The way the put straw was interesting.
In the little hole of the pull-tab, the straw hardly moved and it's easy to drink without chasing the straw.

Menu was on the wall.
In the section of "Patates (potatoes in English)," there're "poutine" and "patatine" so I asked the difference.
They said "patatine" is topped with some vegetables, so I decided to get a classic one, "poutine."
My husband ordered "Hamburger Steak" from "Assiettes (plate menu)."
Hamburger Steak is a plate of 2 beef patties for burgers are grilled and topped with sauteed onions and mushrooms, served with salad and fries.
He doesn't like mushrooms so he asked no mushrooms.

When his plate was served first, a staff said my poutine would be ready soon, so I thought it's nice of them to keep me posted.

Here comes my poutine.
A distinguished part is that even though it's a classic poutine, it's got an olive on the top.
Fries were skinny, brown, crispy, and lightly salted.
Gravy sauce had some sweetness first, but then it tasted salty later.
Cheese curds were squeaky and poured generous amount.

Besides the fries on Hamburger Steak, all the items were cooked on order so the fries were crispy and steaks were juicy.
Each menu was pretty cheap and had decent amount of food on the plates.
It's interesting to see them cooking and singing along with the music they're playing including R. Kelly "Ignition Remix," which we sang along, also.

Poutine: 5.00
Hamburger Steak: 7.00
Diet Coke: 1.50 x 2pcs
Total: 15.00 + 2 kinds of tax = 17.25 + tip = 20.00 CND dollars

Patati Patata
