世界でトップ10に入るステーキハウス「モイシェス」のプーティン
(Japanese follows. / 日本語は以下へ続く。)
To have our 1st anniversary dinner, my husband chose "Moishes" in Montreal.
It's chosen one of the top 10 steakhouse in the world by Forbes magazine.
The steakhouse was founded by Moishe Lighter in 1938 and it's in a historic Jewish quarter.
And the location hasn't be changed since the very first establishment.
It's identified as a Jewish Steakhouse because the menu was based on traditional Old World recipes, and it catered to the mainly Central European immigrant residents of The Main (Saint-Laurent Boulevard) neighborhood.
Restaurant itself is located on the 2nd floor, and there's a reception and coat check-in.
This is a steakhouse but they also have seafood besides land meat.
An experienced-looking old waiter led us to a table.
I was wondering what to get while going through the "Lighter Meal" section as I didn't wanna fill myself up.
And I found "Fillet Mignon Poutine" and in second, I knew what I was gonna get.
By the way, they have shellfishes and poutine (which consists of dairy product with protein/meat), thus it's not Kosher though they're recognized as Jewish Steakhouse.
A list of the poutines we've had is below.
Frite Alors!
McDonald's
La Banquise
Pizza Hut
Burger King
Poutineville
A&W
KFC
Five Guys
iBurger
Sesame
Lola Rosa
McKibbin’s Irish Pub
Monsieur Restaurant + Bar
Poutine Centrale
Imadake Izakaya
Monsieur Restaurant + Bar (dessert poutine)
Le Gourmet Burger
Frite Alors! (lobster)
Dive Bar
Pommes Frites
True Burger Co.
Hooters
McDonald's (Buffalo Chicken Poutine)
Wendy's
There're a lot of fillet.
I was surprised to see it since almost half of the pan was filled with fillet.
Fries were crispy and golden brown, and instead of gravy sauce, they put steak sauce.
At least I thought it's not gravy sauce because it's peppery, sweet, and starchy.
They used real cheese curds and the fillet was cooked medium.
The fillet was just so flavorful, tender, sweet, juicy, and just perfect.
It's the best poutine I've ever had!
And the most expensive poutine so far (25 CND dollars before tax).
The waiter came back again and asked if everything was ok, and another waiter was watching tables well enough and poured water before we asked.
When my husband called to reserve, they said they only do birthday cakes, but not anniversary.
However, they actually brought us a chocolate cake with a candle on!
It surprised both of us.
The waiter said there'd be many many many many more to come (as it's our first anniversary), which was very sweet of him.
One of the things I liked about this restaurant was that when we set an order, the waiter came back to us and said, "Potato will be served with your steak, and pourtine is made with french fries, and if you order more fires as a side, it'd be too much potatoes. Would you like to cancel the fries?" and we could cancel.
I've never been recommended anything like this at a restaurant, and it was really great suggestion to enjoy the meal fully.

Following your blog and poutine journey, I just had poutine from Robson Fries in Shimokitazawa, the fries were okay but the cheese certainly didn't look like yours!
Thank you!
削除The poutine was definitely the best ever!!
I heard about Robson Fries in Shimokitazawa, but some photos I saw didn't have real cheese curds ;(
