My husband found IN-N-OUT in Fisherman's Wharf area and we took a cab to eat some burger there with his team.
I've been to IN-N-OUT several times (besides those occasions I didn't review), and I decided to get something unique this time.

They have several "Not So Secret Menu" items on HP and the most famous one would be Animal Style.
As I hate mayo, I always ask them for no mayo so that I've never had Animal Style.
Last night, I got "Protein Style" that is not using buns but instead, lettuce, thus, it's (more) protein ≒ low carbs.

As always, they're very welcoming and call you madam or sir, and ask if xxx should added or not, etc.
When I asked, "Do you have Protein Style, made with lettuce?" the employee said yes so I asked no sauce, cheese, with onions and tomato.
As she didn't look confused, it really showed that it's not so secret menu as the HP says.

In about 10 minutes, I saw an employee putting lettuce and I knew it's mine.
They wrapped the lettuce burger in a brownish paper skillfully.

In a red tray, there're my Protein Style, Double Double Animal Style for my husband French Fries with cheese.

I don't really like cheese on fries but my husband does, so what we do is he eats the surface with cheese, then I eat the bottom. 
Yes, teamwork is important when it comes to food, too.

On the receipt, it says, "CHB > T O only pro" and it's "Cheeseburger > Tomato Onion only, Protein Style."

Like regular burgers, they used a IN-N-OUT paper bag to hold the Protein Style.

Several leaves were used on each side instead of buns, and a beef patty with American cheese, a slice of tomato and some rings of onions were sanded.

The lettuce and onions were fresh and crunchy, tomato was juicy, and the beef patty was cooked to medium and cheese wasn't too runny.

It's not bad all but it's too light, to be honest, and I mainly tasted lettuce.

And as the lettuce was so fresh that they're even watery and hard to hold the contents without sliding them off and collapsing.

I think next time I gotta get Double Double for Protein Style to enhance and improve the "meaty" texture and flavor.

To describe it with Doge way, it's "Wow so lettuce" and "Wow very protein."

There're pickled peppers by the condiments, and they're much spicier than I thought.
Usually these are sour and only a little bit hot, but these were quite spicy-hot.

I bought a T-shirt, and they didn't have XS so I bought a Small.

By the cash register, there're several stickers and I thought they're for kids, but when I asked, they gave me all kinds.

旦那がフィッシャーマンズワーフでIN-N-OUTを見つけ、旦那のチームとタクシーで向かい
ハンバーガーを食べてきた。
私はこれまでに（レビューを書いていない時を含め）数回IN-N-OUTのバーガーを食べた
ことがあるので、今回は少し変わった商品を食べてみることにした。

HPにも載っている「裏メニューとは呼べないほど有名なメニュー」の中で最も人気がある
のは、恐らくアニマルスタイルだと思う。
ただ、私はマヨネーズが嫌いなので毎度ソース抜きで注文するため、食べたことはない。
昨晩は「プロテインスタイル」というバンズの代わりにレタスが使われたものを注文。
* つまり低炭水化物のバーガー

いつものように店員は丁寧な対応で、女性には「マダム」男性には「サー」と呼びかけ、
「○○は入れますか？」など聞いてくれた。
私は「レタスが使われたプロテインスタイルはありますか？」と聞くと、ありますよと
言っていたので、ソース抜き、チーズとオニオン、トマトをお願いした。
店員が困った顔をしなかったので、HPにある通り周知の商品なのだと思う。

10分程度すると、キッチンで大量のレタスを使っている店員がいたので私のバーガーだと
分かった。
レタス数枚が使われたバーガーを茶色っぽい紙で器用に包んでいた。

赤いトレーに私のプロテインスタイル、旦那のダブルダブル アニマルスタイル、チーズを
追加したポテトが入っていた。
私はポテトにチーズをかけるのはあまり好きではないけれど、旦那はチーズを乗せるのが
好きなので、旦那が上のチーズがかかった部分を食べ、私が底にあるチーズのかかって
いないポテトを食べる。
食においてもチームワーク、共同作業が大切。

レシートには「CHB > T O only pro」と載っていて、これは「チーズバーガー > トマト
オニオン オンリー、プロテインスタイル」のこと。

通常のバーガー同様、このプロテインスタイルも小さな紙袋に収められていた。
両側（パンの部分）にはレタスが数枚ずつ使われ、アメリカンチーズが乗ったパティ、
スライストマト、タマネギの輪切りが挟まれていた。

レタスとタマネギは新鮮でシャキシャキしていて、トマトはジューシー、ビーフパティはミディアムに焼いてあり、チーズはどろっとしない程度に溶けていた。

悪くはないけれどあっさりしすぎた味で、ほぼレタスの味だった。
レタスはとてもみずみずしかったので水分が出て、具材を滑らないように持って食べる
のが難しかった。
もっと「肉肉しい味」を得るため、次回はダブル ダブルをプロテインスタイルで食べて
みようと思う。

ケチャップの側に唐辛子のピクルスがあり、思ったよりも辛かった。
酸味が強くほとんど辛さがないものが多いけれど、これは後からヒーヒー言う辛さ。

今回はTシャツも買った。
XSはないとのことだったのでSサイズを購入し、レジに置いてあったステッカーは子供用
かと思ったけれど、お願いしたら全種類もらえた。
