Cronut From Dominique Ansel (February, 2017)
ドミニクアンセルのクロナッツ（2017年2月）

My parents were in NYC for the first time and while we're walking around SoHo, we stopped by at Dominique Ansel Bakery to try some items, and then, we saw there're many Cronuts left even after 11 AM on a weekday and luckily we could buy it without reservation or lining up from early in the morning.
We got Kouign Amann, Chilly Penguin Religieuse and Perfect Little Egg Sandwich besides Cronut, which we had no idea what February's flavor was.
This Cronut had pink frosting and pistachios.
When I cut into half, I saw some transparent pink jelly and pale green cream between the layers.
Heavily sugar coated surface was crunchy and the outside still had crispy texture while it's moist, soft, and chewy inside.
The jam was rose flavor and my husband described it, "It tasted like as if I was eating fragrance."
And it's not exaggerating really as the floral scent was quite strong.
Pistachio cream was smooth but the rose flavor was too strong to notice any nutty flavor or saltiness at all.
Later, I searched February's flavor and it's Lychee Rose Jam and Pistachio Ganache, however, the lychee flavor was lost and hidden by the rose.
We shared one Cronut so that I only had to eat 1-2 bites, and to be honest, I wouldn't have been able to finish the whole piece with this filling.
I guess my luck ran out when I could buy this Cronut when we walked in.

両親が初めてニューヨークに来たので、ソーホーを歩いていた時にドミニクアンセルに
立ち寄った。
いくつか商品を選んでいると、平日の11時過ぎでもクロナッツが沢山残っていて、予約
なし・早朝から並ぶこともなく買うことができた。
2月のクロナッツのフレーバーを知らないまま1個買い、一緒にクイニーアマン、チリー
ペンギン レリジューズ、パーフェクト リトルエッグ サンドイッチも買った。
今回のクロナッツはピンク色のフロスティングにピスタチオが乗っていた。
半分に切ると、透明なピンク色のジャムと淡い緑色のクリームが層の間に入っていた。
砂糖をたっぷりまぶした外側はシャリシャリし、サクッとした食感が残っていた。
内側はしっとりと柔らかく、もっちりしていた。
ジャムはバラの香りで、旦那曰く「香水を食べているような感じ」と思う人もいるような
はっきりした花の香りだった。
ピスタチオのクリームは滑らかだったけれど、バラの香りが強くてナッツの香りや塩気は
全く分からなかった。
後から調べてみると、2月はライチ ローズジャムとピスタチオ ガナッシュだった。
ただ、ライチもバラに隠れて味が負けていたと思う。
4人で1個を分けたので1〜2口しか食べていないけれど、1個丸々食べるにはしんどい味と
香りで、立ち寄った際に買えたのが運の尽きだったらしい。
