Nissin Cup Noodle Pasta Style Vongole

(Japanese follows. /

Nissin launched 2 new items on June 29, 2015.
It's called "Nissin Cup Noodle Pasta Style" and there're 2 flavors; Vongle and Bolognese.

Before they launched these, they asked Italians if they consider these as pasta, and  even though they didn't recognized, Nissin brought them to the market.
The followings are screenshot of the product page. (http://www.cupnoodle.jp/pastastyle/)

"Pasta that Italians didn't agree."

"Why it went like this...."

"They carried out the research in Gragnano, Italy, where pasta was born."

"Survey Item: Would you consider Cup Noodle Pasta Style as pasta?"

"Survey Finding: 86% of Italians didn't agree that was pasta."

There're many negative comments like, "It can't be pasta," "Why did you put pasta into a cup?" "It's a joke, right?" and "It doesn't look like pasta at all."
However, there're some positive ones, "It's unique," "It's very tasty!" and "I admit it's an interesting idea."

"Judge!"

When I clicked "PASTA!," there's a video after this.

"You know the the taste. You're more than welcomed to tell others about this product."

I clicked "NOT PASTA!"

Then the video said, "Uaaaaaahaaaaa~!! Why do you say thaaaaat!"
* There're several patterns for both answers.

This is a lid of vongole.

The cup.

Both on the lid and cup, there's a red sealing stamp with "drain hot water."

Instruction.
1. Open the lid from ① and peel to ②, and take out powered sauce and seasoning oil.
2. Pour hot water to the inner line, close the lid and wait for 5 minutes.
3. Peel off the lid from ③ and drain hot water from the holes.
4. Add powder sauce first, then seasoning oil, and mix well.

I opened the lid from ① and peel to ②.

And I took out the sauce and oil pouches.

The line was hard to see...

But if you take a close look, the line is here.

When I poured hot water, the lid didn't stay closed as it's a tough material, so I used a sticker attached at the bottom of the plastic wrap.
As soon as I poured hot water, I could smell clam flavor from the cup.

③ is the holes to drain hot water, and until you pour hot water, this part won't come off.

After 5 minutes, I peeled the ③ part off.

It's very easy to remove.

Just in case, I held the sticker to close the lid so that the noodles won't push the lid hard and accidentally flood out from the cup into the sink.

It didn't look like pasta to me at all and it's just instant noodles with clams and red peppers.

First, I poured powder sauce in an orange pouch.

The powder had ver rich seafood flavor.

Next, I added seasoning oil in a blue pouch.
The oil tasted like olive oil with red pepper, and it also had some kick similar to wasabi.

I used a fork as it's called pasta.
When I twisted the pasta around my fork, it looked like vongole and smelled like vongole, but the "pasta" didn't taste like pasta but instant noodle.
The pasta was not al dente and way too soft and didn't have the smooth texture outside but rather flabby and chewy.
I liked the subtle heat and the flavor of the seasoning, especially the clam flavor and garlic, but the noodles were just instant noodles and I wouldn't call it a pasta, never.

(http://www.cupnoodle.jp/pastastyle/

  1. I tried both and like the flavors, but texture wise, I agree that they are definitely not pasta.
