Dinner At Kozue

(Japanese follows. /

Originally we planned to have a dinner at Kozue in Park Hyatt Tokyo, but we also had afternoon tea at the Peak Lounge, so we walked around the hotel and watched fireworks to burn away time.
We've been to Kozue before for lunch, but it's our first time to have a dinner here.

Before we used the entrance on the 40th floor, but we found another entrance which is on the 41st floor with stairs to go down.

We were there a little bit before 7 PM and the table was ready.

From our table, we could see fireworks in Chofu city in the distance.

Menu
I didn't think I'd be able to finish a course menu, so I decided to order a la carte.
From Appetizer, I ordered "Assorted Japanese Delicacies" and "Grilled Eel" from Shokuji.
And I ordered a blend tea "Sei."

Soon drinks were brought.
The waitress poured my tea and she hit the tea cup with the tea pot, and the tea in the cup spilled out.
She wiped the table quick but she didn't wipe the cup or the wooden saucer, so when she left, I cleaned them on my own.
Also, when she's pouring coke, soda in the bottle was running down on the plate.
She didn't clean the plate well then my husband wiped the soda when she's gone.
They have wines and she'd better practice how to pour drinks...

My husband has food restriction, and when he ordered a green salad, we asked if it contains any pork like bacon, and she said no so we're relieved.
Then she came back to ask if animal fat is ok, so I asked her if she meant lard, but she only said, "Animal related fat" so we had no idea what she's trying to say (the conversation was in Japanese).
So again, we explained no pork or no seafood --- just because the rule is complicated and he doesn't like seafood in general, and we asked again what dish(es) my husband had ordered would contain those items as we didn't see think his plates would contain any of those.
She said it's just in case, so we said, "If it's possible, he'd like to avoid those broth, but to the extent possible is fine."

Soon salad and Assorted Japanese Delicacies were brought.

There're 9 kinds of appetizers but I don't remember all the names.
Black sesame was covering a taro potato, 2 shrimps were wrapped in a bamboo grass, 2 jellied cubes, brown ball had a seed and it tasted like sweet and sour plum, green ball was mashed soy bean with dango (sticky rice cake) inside, thin sliced bread contained cream cheese, cooked octopus in the glass cup, and some inners mixed with strings of clam.

Shokuji "Steamed Rice and Barley, Grilled Eel, Grated Mountain Yam" served with miso soup with clam and pickles.

When I uncovered the lid of the rice, there're paintings of Japanese maple and Sakura.

Over rice and barley, there're 2 pieces of grilled eel, grated mountain yam and seaweed.
Eel was cooked with sweet soy sauce, and the flesh was very soft.

Miso soup with clams and naganegi onion.

Cucumber and eggplant pickles and kelp cooked in soy sauce.
Eggplants had little Japanese mustard.

My husband finished his plate faster than me, and the same waitress brought dessert menu while I was still eating.
We got a Custard Mousse to share.

Custard Mousse, Red Bean Paste, Black Sesame Sauce, Plum sauce.
Japanese name is "Golden Egg" so the custard was wrapped in gold leaf and so shiny.

Egg shaped ball was placed in the black sesame paste topped with red plum sauce.

Smooth custard was holding sweet red bean paste in the center.
Black sesame paste was fragrant, rich, and sweet.
I remember the Pastry Boutique on the 2nd floor sold this for a limited time but I didn't have a chance to buy it, so I'm glad I could try some.
