Last November, we went to Pies-n-Thighs in Brooklyn for the first time.
We went there to try the famous donut and also it's mentioned in a Japanese guide book and I was interested in the place.
We went there on a weekday around 1:30 PM, but the restaurant was full and waited for about 20 minutes after telling them our name and the number of the group.

Menu
We're by the cash register and there're constantly customers for to-go and staffs coming and out, thus it's not that a relaxing spot to be seated.
Also, there're dump boxes for leftovers right next to our table, and it's quite nasty to see them while sitting and they splash beverages in and sort of throw in the leftovers, which concerned me that something would get on me.
Chicken & Waffles
The menu said 2 pieces of fried chicken, buckwheat waffles, topped with cinnamon butter and baked apples, but there're 3 pieces of chicken.
Fries were not dark brown and it looked like they used starch to make it crispy.
I don't like cinnamon that much, and it's too strong for me as there're cinnamon butter and baked apple, the latter of which was also seasoned with cinnamon.
The breading was light and crispy, and some parts were crunchy.
The chicken was tender, and buckwheat waffles were fragrant.

メニューにはシナモンシュガーと書かれていなかったけれど、全体にシナモンシュガーが
かかっていた。
少し固めの食感で、かなりパサパサしていた。
シナモンシュガーを落とせるだけ落として食べた。

Their famous donuts are raised, I believe, but they're sold out already and we got a cake donut instead.
Old Fashioned Donut
The menu didn't say it's cinnamon sugar, but it's fully coated with cinnamon sugar.
It's a firm donut and dried up.
I scraped off cinnamon sugar as much as I could.
Banana Cream Pie
I don't remember this well so it must have been neither good nor bad.
The price was ok, but the food was not that impressive and I just couldn't get over the dump boxes near the table...

有名なドーナツに興味があったのと、日本で買ったガイドブックに載っていたので気に
なっていた場所だった。
平日の13時半頃に行ったのだけれど、満席だったので名前と人数を伝えた後に20分ほど
待った。
レジのそばに座っていたのだけれど、常にテイクアウトのお客さんやスタッフが行き来し
落ち着かない場所だった。
また、残飯ケースが席の隣にあったので、座っている時に視界に入って気持ち悪かった。
スタッフは液体をバシャッと捨て、残飯も投げ入れていたため、こちらに残飯が飛んで
来ないか不安になった。
チキン＆ワッフル
フライドチキンが2個、そば粉ワッフル、シナモンバター、ベイクドアップルとメニューに
載っていたけれど、チキンは3個だった。
チキンの衣は濃い茶色ではなく、サクッとさせるための片栗粉のようにも見えた。
シナモンバターとベイクドアップルの両方にシナモンが使われていて、私はシナモンが
苦手なので、このスパイスの香りが強すぎた。
衣は軽くサクサクで、ところどころカリッとした部分もあった。
鶏肉は柔らかく、そば粉ワッフルは香ばしかった。

有名なドーナツはレイズというイーストを使ったものだと思うけれど、この日は売り切れ
だったので、ケーキドーナツを買った。
オールドファッションドーナツ

シナモンシュガーを落とせるだけ落として食べた。
バナナクリームパイ
特に覚えていないので、可もなく不可もなくという味だったと思う。
値段は良かったけれど、味は驚くほどの美味しさはなく、なによりもテーブル横に汚い
残飯箱が置いてあるのが生理的に無理。
