Since I moved to NYC, I've listed up places I should visit and items I should try.
And one of the places was The Campbell Apartment in Grand Central Terminal and that is often mentioned in articles of famous or speak-easy bars in NYC.

Though the name, the facility was never an apartment, but once it's the office of American financier John W. Campbell, who served on the New York Central Railroad Board of Directors.

I've read some reviews and they're quite strict about the dress code, some have received quite bad service, it gets really full and they waited forever and etc.
As they don't allow sneakers, I had to plan a visit beforehand to wear heels so that I would be able to sit down without being denied at the door or kicked out after I place my order like others were.

One of the signs in GCT is opposite side of Apple Store.

When you go out the door to the outside, you're facing Vanderbilt Avenue.

Turn left as soon as you left the door and follow the plate with an arrow shown below on the wall.

You'll find this door in 10 seconds or so.

Inside the door, it looks like this.

And on the right side, there's The Campbell Apartment.

I searched the hours and the internet said from noon, but the plate at the bar says from 3 PM.

So I called the bar but no one answered and it's connected to the answering machine.

And according to the machine, it DOES open at noon.

At noon, I saw a man walking into the bar so I knocked the door and asked him what time the bar would open, and he said in about 10 minutes, so I walked down the stairs and waited there.

At 12:07 PM, I could go into the bar.

I ordered a cheesecake and asked what drink would go well with the pastry, and he suggested "Mango Mule," so I ordered that.
The bartender, who arrived at the bar at noon and he's the only employee who was taking care of the bar till I left, asked me how I'd found the bar.
I said, "I was looking for secret spots and must-visit places in NYC, and I found this bar even though I don't drink."
Then he said if I didn't drink, he could make something without alcohol, so I asked for that.

Virgin Fruit Punch

It's a mix of passion fruits, pine and grenadine syrup, and it's a pale pink drink.

It's fruity and sweet but also had some sour flavor, too.

Cheesecake

There's a face on the cheesecake with raspberry coulis (puree), but as it's facing to inside of the bar when it's served and it's hard to notice that with the large mint.

It's a column shaped cheesecake which was gradually becoming wider towards the top like The Guggenheim Museum.

This cheesecake didn't have spongecake or graham base at the bottom.
It's thick, firm, creamy, rich in cream cheese flavor with subtle lemon scent, and it's thick enough to be called New York cheesecake, I thought.

The raspberry sauce was quite sour but with cheesecake, it had a perfect balance of sweet and sour.

I was at the bar at noon on a weekday, so it's not crowded and I enjoyed some conversation with other guests and the bartender.
It didn't seem to be that strict when I was there (I wore a pair of heels, skinny beige pants and a plain T-shirt, which didn't have any logos or collar), and maybe the dress code matters when there're more guests or after work hours.
At least I had a quiet and relaxing time at the bar with the non alcoholic cocktail and the cheesecake.

ニューヨークに引越してきて以来、行く場所や食べるものをリスト化している。

その中の1つが、グランドセントラルターミナルにあるキャンベルアパートメントいう
バーで、ニューヨークで有名なバーや隠れ家のバーとして紹介されていることが多い。

名前とは違ってアパートとして使われたことはないけれど、アメリカの資本家で
ニューヨーク・セントラル鉄道理事会員だったジョーン W. キャンベル氏が一時期事務所と
して使用していた。

レビューを読むとドレスコードが厳しいことや、接客態度が悪かったこと、混雑すると
長時間待ったことなどが書かれいた。
スニーカーでは入れず、入り口で断られたり注文後に退出するよう言われたりした人が
いたので、予め行く日を決めてヒールを履いて行った。

ターミナル内のアップルストアの反対側に店名が載っていて、そのドアを出るとバンダー
ビルト大通りに面している。
ドアを出てすぐに左へ曲がり、壁にあるプレートにある矢印の方向へ進む。
10秒ほど歩くとドアがあり、そのドアを開けて入ると右手にキャンベルアパートメントが
ある。

ネットで開店時間を調べると正午からと書かれていたけれど、バーの入り口にある看板
には15時からと書かれていた。
バーに電話をかけると誰も応答せず、自動メッセージに繋がり、それを聞いていると
メッセージでも正午開店と言っていた。

正午少し前にバーの前にある階段の下で待っていると、男性が1人正午に入店したので
ドアをノックし「何時に開店しますか？」と聞くと「10分ほどで開けます」と言って
いたので、階段の下に戻って待っていた。

12時07分に入店できた。
2階へ上がる階段が入り口の右手にあった。
暖炉には木製の金庫があり、金色の文字でジョーン W. キャンベル氏の名前が入って
いた。

タイル張りのカウンターに座り、メニューを開いた。
チーズケーキを注文し、ケーキに合う飲み物を聞くと「マンゴーミュール」を勧められた
ので、それをお願いした。
バーテンダー（正午に出勤し、私が帰るまで1人で切り盛り）にどうやってこのバーを
見つけたの聞かれたので、「ニューヨークの隠れ家や行くべきスポットを探していた時に
このバーを見つけ、お酒は飲まないけれど来ました」と答えた。
「お酒を飲まないのであれば、ノンアルコールで何か作りますよ」と言ってくれたので、
それをお願いした。

バージン フルーツ パンチ
パッションフルーツ、パイナップル、グレナディンシロップが混ざったもので、淡い
ピンク色だった。
フルーティーで甘いノンアルコール カクテルで、少し酸味もあった。

チーズケーキ
チーズケーキにはラズベリー クーリ（ピューレ）で顔が描かれていたのだけれど、
出された時にはカウンター側に顔が向いていて、ミントで隠れていた。
チーズケーキは円柱型で、グッゲンハイム美術館のように上に向かって徐々に広がって
いた。

チーズケーキの底にはスポンジやグラハムが敷かれていなかった。
濃厚で硬く、クリーミーで、クリームチーズの味が濃くレモンの酸味が少しあり、
ニューヨークチーズケーキと呼べるくらい濃厚だった。
ラズベリーソースは酸味が強く、チーズケーキと一緒に食べると甘さと酸味のバランスが
良かった。

平日の正午に行ったので混んでおらず、他のお客さんやバーテンダーと少し話していた。
私が行った時はそれほどドレスコードが厳しいようには見えず、もしかしたら仕事帰りの
時間になるともっと細かく言われるのかもしれない。
（私はヒール、ベージュのスキニーパンツ、ロゴや襟のないシンプルなシャツを着用）

少なくとも私はゆっくりと静かにノンアルコールカクテルとチーズケーキを楽しむことが
できた。
