Minar Indian Restaurant

(Japanese follows. /

When we're planning to go to a specific restaurant for dinner, the wait was about an hour so that we left and wandered around to look for an alternative spot to eat.
Then, we found Minar Indian Restaurant in Times Square and there're South Asian customers so that we thought it could be good and went in.

There're about 16 kinds of curry in a heated counter.

We got Non-Vegetarian Platter from Prix Fixe Specials, and this lets you choose 1 meat and 1 vegetable curry each and comes with rice, raita, onion salad and naan.

I got Butter Chicken (Chicken Makhani) and Saag Paneer.

Under the plate with a naan, there's a generous amount of rice, but they didn't put onion salad, which was just sliced onions.

Saag Paneer
It's a simple spinach curry but it had nice heat surprisingly, and there're many cheese cubes.

Butter Chicken
Compared to Saag Paneer, it's sweeter and much creamier though it sure had some spiciness.
All the meat was white meat.

Rice
Skinny basmati rice was separated and dry in a good way so that it went well with curry.

Raita
Salty yogurt with cucumbers.

Naan
It's my first time to receive non-cut naan in the states, and it's a good size; about 1 foot long.
(In Japan, they serve much larger whole naan.)

It's served warm but it's ready within a minute and weirdly crispy overall, so I think they just reheated this in the toaster, not baked in a tandoor.

There're fluffy parts and they're chewy.

Air pocket in the naan.
Naan didn't have any butter on and it had saltiness and subtle sweetness from wheat.
It's not a fancy restaurant, but the staffs were helpful and fast, and the food tasted good for the price.
It's a nice spot when you want some curry quick, at a reasonable price.

Non-Vegetarian Platter: 11.95 dollars (before tax)
