Papa John's Fritos Chili Pizza

Since when I saw a commercial of a pizza topped with Fritos produced by Papa John's, I was always wanting to try, and last night, I finally ordered it.
I couldn't find the actual launching date but seems like it's been available since later in October, 2014.
It's created by partnering with PepsiCo, which was formed by Pepsi-Cola and Frito-Lay merge in 1965.
It's Papa John's signature-crust, real beef, chili sauce, Roma tomatoes and onions with cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
And once it's baked, they put Fritos to add extra crunchiness.
It's a recreation of Fritos Chili Pie that is a famous food originating to the 1930s, and it's cheese and chili over Fritos.
Sometimes it's made in a bag of Fritos, too.
After placing my order, it arrived in about 45 minutes.
The delivery person was running to my door when I waved at him when he was looking for my room.
This is a small Fritos Chili Pizza, and it came with garlic butter and a jalapeño.
Thick edge, chili sauce, diced tomatoes and onions, a mix of cheese and chunks of beef.
Over the top, there're a lot of Fritos.
Some Fritos came off when I picked a slice up, but most of them stayed over melted cheese.
The chili sauce was sweet and had a little bit of spiciness in the end.
The dough was chewy, tomatoes and onions were half cooked so that tomatoes had moisture and onions were slightly crunchy.
I thought the amount of cheese was a little bit small but as they put Fritos, maybe it's a good portion not to feel sick of grease.
Partially Fritos were stale but mainly they're crunchy and crispy.
Even though they put Fritos over the pizza after baking, they get slightly soft due to the steam in the box.
It's my first time to order Papa John's, and I had no idea how to use this Garlic Dipping Sauce.
I was afraid that if I dipped a slice of pizza, Fritos would fall, so instead, I poured the sauce over the pizza.
And it's pretty oily and disgusting.
Then I realized that I needed to dip the crust, and it tasted like a garlic bread.
There's a small jalapeño in the box but as it's not chopped or sliced, I bit between some pizza.
The crust was very plain, I think no seasoning except salt, and the chili sauce tasted cheap like fast food chili, but for salty and fragrant Fritos, those flavors were the best I think.

コーンチップスのフリートスが乗ったピザのCMを見てからずっと食べたいと思っていて、
昨晩やっと注文した。
実際の発売日を見つけることはできなかったけれど、2014年10月下旬に発売された期間
限定商品らしい。

このピザはペプシコ（1965年にペプシコーラとフリトレーが合併した企業）と提携し
開発された。
パパジョーンズのクラスト、 本物の牛肉、チリソース、ローマトマト、タマネギの上に
チェダーチーズとモッツァレラチーズをかけて焼き、最後にサクサクの歯応えを加える
ためにフリートスを散りばめたピザで、これは1930年代に生まれた「フリートス チリ
パイ」という食べ物を再現したもの。
フリートス チリ パイとは、フリートスの上にチリソース、そしてチーズをかけたもので、
フリートスの袋を切り開いてそこにソースやチーズを乗せることもある。
注文後、45分ほどでピザが届いた。
デリバリーの人が部屋を探していたので手を振って部屋を知らせると、走って届けて
くれた。
分厚い耳のピザで、チリソース、トマトとタマネギの角切り、チーズ、牛肉の 小さな塊が
乗っていて、1番上にはフリートスが沢山かかっていた。
1切れを持ち上げるといくつかフリートスが落ちたけれど、ほとんどはチーズにくっついて
そのまま残っていた。
チリソースは甘めで、少しだけ後味に辛さがあった。
生地はもっちりしていて、トマトとタマネギは半分火が通った程度だったので、トマトは
水分があり、タマネギは少し歯応えが残っていた。
チーズの量が少ないように感じたけれど、フリートスが乗っていたのでこのぐらいの量が
しつこくないのかもしれない。
フリートスは部分的に湿気たような食感もあったけれど、ほとんどがサクサクしていた。
焼き上げてから上にフリートスを乗せても、箱の中に蒸気と熱がこもってしまうので
仕方がないと思った。

パパジョーンズを初めて頼んだので、付いてきた「ガーリック ディッピングソース」の
使い方が分からず、ソースにピザを浸すためかたむけるとフリートスが落ちてしまうので
ソースをピザにかけることにした。
ガーリックとバターの良い香りだったけれど、ピザ全体にかけるとかなり油っぽい。
どうやらこれはピザの耳を浸すためのディップのようで、耳だけ浸して食べるとよくある
ガーリックブレッドのような味だった。
ハラペーニョが丸ごと入っていたので、ピザを食べながら時々かじった。

塩のみで味付けされたようなプレーンなクラストで、チリソースはファストフードで出る
ものと同じような味だったけれど、塩気があり香ばしいフリートスとはこれぐらいの
味の方が合うのかと思う。
