Cherry Dip Cone From Mister Softee, The Real Truck

Back in April, I had a soft ice cream from a truck in NYC called "Master Softee" which I first thought Mister Softee since the logo and the character was really close and not seeing the actual truck, it's closely resemble and I even felt I was tricked.Apparently, Master Softee was sued by the original company, Mister Softee in March, 2014, and it's filed in Manhattan Federal Court for trademark infringement.
And Master Softee started in February, which was pretty "new" when I saw it back in April though it's just a imitating brand.
Conway, a descendent of the founder, has pursued legal action more than 10 cases since 1990s, spending an enormous cost.
He said they (false trucks) want to confuse the public, and I 100% agree as I got confused and didn't realize till I took a close look the spelling and the face (cone) of the character.
Mister Softee was founded in 1956 in Philadelphia by William and James Conway, and it's one of the largest soft ice cream franchise company in the states operating 600 trucks by about 350 franchises in 15 states.
and the headquarter is in Runnemede, New Jersey.

Last Saturday, after having 5oz. Factory Melt and Doritos Loaded, we spotted one real Mister Softee truck after seeing several copycats besides Master Softee.

It was well-copied by Master Softee.
Real Mister Softee character has a flat-bottom cone with 3 layers of white soft ice cream.
Master Softee has waffle cone and colorful chocolate toppings.
The logo is also tiled like the original Mister Softee, but font was slightly different; Mister Softee has softer and flowing writing.
I was indecisive which one to get, then my husband said Cheery Dip Cone is one of the famous kind.
I'd never had it before so I was excited to try it.
This is a Cherry Dip Cone.
It's got very vivid color that was more like red than cherry.
The red color was covering the whole soft ice cream.
I was wondering how they make it, then my husband said after they made soft ice cream, they dip it in a cherry sauce and let it firm on the cold ice cream.
The cherry coating was thin but crunchy, and inside there's vanilla soft ice cream.
The ice cream tasted different from Master Softee.
This one was lighter and more refreshing while the fake ice cream was creamier and richer.
Cherry Dip Cone was just something I'd never seen and the mix of crispy shell and soft ice cream inside was quite interesting.
I prefer Mister Softee for summer as it's light, but in winter, I tend to enjoy richer texture desserts like the one from Master Softee.
There're a lot more toppings, even colorful chocolate toppings over Cherry Dip, so I'm poking forward to trying some more.
When we found the truck, I was hoping to hear the music I heard on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" (episode 79 "Mister Softee"), but unfortunately they didn't play anything.
I'd love to hear it someday.

偽物であるマスター・ソフティーは2月から営業しているようで、4月に買った時は
まだ「できたて」のブランド（と言っても偽造）だったということが分かった。
創業者の子孫であるコンウェイ氏は家族所有のブランドを守るため、1990年代から
10件以上の訴訟を起こしていて、莫大な訴訟費用をかけてきた。
彼は「マスター・ソフティーは人々を混乱させたいのだ」と答えていて、実際に偽物と
気がつかずに買ってしまった私は彼の主張に完全に同意。
トラックに書かれていた綴りとキャラクターの顔（コーンの部分）をよく確認してみて
初めて偽物と分かったほど似ていた。
ミスター・ソフティーは、1956年にウィリアムとジェームス・コンウェイ氏によって
フィラデルフィアで設立され、アメリカで最も大きなソフトクリームのフランチャイズ
企業の1つ。
15の州で350店のフランチャイズ店があり、600台のトラックで営業している。

先週土曜日にファイブ オウンス ファクトリー メルトとドリトス ローデッドを食べて
帰宅する時、ミスター・ソフティーまがいのトラックを散々見た後、本物のミスター・
ソフティーがあるのを見つけた。
本物のトラックの後ろ、側面ともにマスター・ソフティーとほぼ見分けがつかないほど
そっくり真似されていたなと改めて思った。
ミスター・ソフティーのキャラクターの顔は、底が平らなコーンの上にバニラアイスが3段
乗っているのに対し、マスター・ソフティーはワッフルコーンの上にチョコスプレーの
かかったアイスが乗っている。
ロゴは両社とも右肩上がりの斜め配置。
ただ、書体は少し異なっていた； 本家のミスター・ソフティーの方が柔らかく、流れる
ような字体。
どのアイスを注文しようか迷っていた時、旦那が「チェリーディップコーン」が有名だと
教えてくれた。
今まで食べたことがなかったので、即決。
出てきたチェリーディップコーンはかなり明るい色で、チェリーと言うよりも赤色。
どうやってこのアイスを作るのか疑問に思っていたら、ソフトクリームを作った後に
チェリーソースに浸し、アイスの冷たさでソースを固まらせるのだと旦那が言っていた。
チェリーコーティングは薄くパリパリで、中にはソフトクリームが入っていた。
マスター・ソフティーは濃厚でクリーミーだったけれど、ミスター・ソフティーは
あっさりとした軽い味だった。
初めて食べたチェリーディップコーンは、パリッとしたコーティングの中にソフト
クリームが入っていて面白い商品だった。
夏はあっさりしたミスター・ソフティーが良いけれど、冬はもう濃厚なデザートが
食べたくなるので、マスター・ソフティーのアイスが合う。
チェリーディップのようにコーティングするだけでなく、さらにチョコスプレーが
かかったものもあるようなので、他のアイスも食べてみたい。
トラックを見つけた時、「ラリーのミッドライフ★クライシス」（原題：Curb Your Enthusiasm）の第79話（ミスター・ソフティー）で聞いたアイストラックの音楽を
聞けるかと思ったけれど、残念ながら流れていなかった。
ぜひいつか実際に音楽を聞いてみたい。
