One of the readers of my blog who kindly updates me new snacks asked me if I had Jagarico Mentai Cream.

And I hadn't even heard of the flavor, so I started looking for it with the photo she sent me but I didn't find it at any supermarket or conbini I went to.
However, as many of you have noticed, my mom managed to get one from a conbini next day!
I'm not sure how come she can find the goods I can't find...

Regarding the flavor, "Mentai" is a shorten or adjective form of "Mentaiko," that is seasoned cod roes.
It tends to be red or reddish pink and is spicy and famous in Fukuoka.
Mentai Cream is used for spaghetti sauce, too, so I'm assuming that this Jagarico is creating creamy and spicy flavor.
The image underneath "期間限定 (limited time only)" is a picture of Mentaiko spaghetti.

This is a limited time only flavor, and I learned that it's launched November 11, 2013.
At this point, I wonder the period of "limited time" means as it's middle of May in 2014.

A pun as always.
"Osusumentai, Tabetekuriimu ♪"
It's gotta be "Osusume, Tabetekure" I think.
This means, "It's recommended, please eat ♪"

Another one is using the bar-code.
3 giraffes say, "Cream Mentai, here we come!"
And another giraffe says, "You mean 'Sentai'..."

"Sentai" is special operation unit, and in Japan, groups of heroes usually say, "XX sentai, here we come!" when they arrive to fight against the villains. 

Jagarico seemed pale and not pink like Mentaiko when I looked them from the top.

I saw pink dots and black dots.
Pink ones are from Mentaiko (seasoned cod roes) and blacks ones are seaweed.

Jagarico is so crunchy that I couldn't really feel the each cod roe, but I tasted and smelled the same flavor that I get when I eat Mentaiko.
It didn't have much spicy flavor so the spiciness was far from the authentic Mentaiko.
And I sensed only a few flavor of seaweed, but it nobody mentions it, I wouldn't have noticed.

ブログを読んでくれ、さらに新しい商品について教えてくれる人から、じゃがりこの明太クリーム味を
食べたことがあるかと聞かれた。
その人に教えてもらうまで聞いたこともなかったので、送ってもらった写真を見ながら探してみた
けれど、コンビニにもスーパーにも置いてなかった。
ただ、これまでに何度もあるように、なぜか母が別のコンビニで翌日見つけて買ってきてくれた。
なぜこうも母が簡単に見つけられるのか不思議で仕方がない。

これまでに食べたじゃがりこ。
チーズカレー
クラムチャウダー
ゆず胡椒
かぼちゃグラタン
抹茶クリーム
アスパラベーコン
香味醤油

これは明太子味ではなく、「明太クリーム」なので、まろやかでピリッと辛い味が楽しめるらしい。
「期間限定」の文字の下には、明太クリームスパゲティの写真が載っている。

箱には期間限定と書いてあり、発売日は2013年11月11日だった。
もう2014年5月半ばなので、期間限定がどのくらいの期間を表すのか分からない状態。

カップにはいつものダジャレがあり、1つは「おすすメンタイ、食べてクリーム♪」
バーコードには「クリームメンタイ参上！」と言う3頭のキリンに対し、「センタイでしょ」とつっこむ
キリンが1頭描かれている。

カップの中のじゃがりこは明太子のようなピンク色ではなく、淡い色だった。
取り出してみるとピンクと黒の点々があり、ピンクは明太子、黒い点々はのりだった。

じゃがりこがガリガリしていて明太子の粒々した感じられなかったものの、明太子を食べた時と
同じ風味が口に広がり、鼻に抜けた。
辛さはほんのわずかだけで、本物の明太子のような辛さはない。
のりの風味も少しだけあったけれど、言われなければ分からないほどだった。
