Jagarico's another limited time flavor is "Asparagus Bacon" was launched on March 10, 2014.
The Japanese says "アスパラベーコン (Asupara Beekon)," and "asupara" is what we use for asparagus in Japanese.
* Bacon is the same but I just used romaji.

On the press release, I found a very interesting history how they came up with this flavor.
According to the press, there's an exclusive fan site called "それいけ！ じゃがり校" which only those who can join who passed the exam (like thesis to express how much you love Jagarico, etc) which is held once a year.
* "Soreike!" means "let's go!" and "Jagarikou" a combined name of "Jagarico" and "Ko" meaning school in Japanese.

The Jagarikou has been active since 2008 and this Asparagus Bacon flavor was chosen out of 1,000 flavors by the students (exclusive fan members), and also the package design, pun and the character costume, too.

Asparagus Bacon can be found at Izakaya (Japanese bar) and Yakitori (grilled meat with skewer) restaurant and also could be seen in the prepared food sections in the supermarket.
Like the image shows on the cup, it's asparagus wrapped in bacon and grilled.

There're asparagus (green) and bacon (pink) all over as if they're flying.

On the side of the cup and also on the lid, there's a cartoon version of "Asparagus Bacon" with "limited time only" sign.

This is bar-code which is made into a slice of bacon.
The shadow of a giraffe says, "Asupara Ga Suki," which is a pun, and means "I love asparagus."
"Asupara Ga Suki" contains Asuparagasu, that is asparagus in English.

This giraffe in a green with white dots shirt with a frilly apron is cooking Asparagus Bacon in a pan and saying "A-suparashii be-konbi !"
It's a tough pun to translate, but it's technically meaning how amazing Asparagus Bacon is.
The correct Japanese is "A-suBarashii E-konbi !" I think.

This is the Asparagus Bacon flavored Jagarico.
In the Jagarico sticks, I could see red and green which were bacon and asparagus bits.

When I opened the lid, I could smell the bitter and grass scent that asparagus has, but not much bacon flavor.

When I ate it, in the crunchy potato first I tasted asparagus same as I smelled first.

Then salty bacon flavor followed.

In the end, it was salty bacon with grass-smelled asparagus with potatoes.

The balance was good and even though I said "grass-smelled asparagus," I didn't mean it's bad but it's got strong asparagus flavor like real one.

じゃがりこの期間限定フレーバー「アスパラベーコン」が2014年3月10日に発売された。

プレスリリースに商品化までの面白い道のりが載っていた。
プレスによると、「それいけ！ じゃがり校」という年に1回実施される入学試験（論文でじゃがりこ
への熱い思いを伝える等）に合格した人だけが入れる会員制サイトが2008年からあり、そこで
集めた1,000種類以上のフレーバーからアスパラベーコンが選ばれたとのこと。
また、フレーバーだけでなく、パッケージデザインやダジャレ、キャラクターの衣装もじゃがり校の
生と（ファン会員）によって作成されたのが今回の商品。

アスパラベーコンは居酒屋や焼き鳥店でもよく見かけるメニューで、スーパーの惣菜コーナーで
見ることもあるかも。
カップにはベーコンで巻かれたアスパラのイメージ画像が使われていた。
また、カップにはアスパラとベーコンの画が散りばめられていた。

蓋とカップの側面にはアスパラベーコンの画があり、「期間限定」と書かれていた。

カップの脇にあるバーコードがベーコンに見立てられていて、キリンの影が「アスパラがスキ」と
ダジャレを言っている。（アスパラがスキ）

白い水玉模様の緑のシャツとフリフリのエプロンをつけたキリンがフライパンでアスパラベーコンを
調理していて、そのキリンが言っているダジャレは「アースパラしい ベーコンビ！」
元の日本語は「あースバラシイ えぇコンビ！」なのかな？ ベーコンの部分がちょっと苦しい。

じゃがりこの中には赤と緑の粒があり、それらはベーコンとアスパラであるらしい。
蓋を開けた時にアスパラ特有の苦い草っぽい香りがし、ベーコンの香りそれほどなかった。

食べてみると、香りと同じように最初はジャガイモの中にアスパラの味がした。

その後ベーコンの塩気が出て来た。

最終的にはしょっぱいベーコンと青臭いアスパラがポテトと混ざった味だった。

バランスの良い味で、本物のアスパラのような青臭さがあったのは新鮮だった。
