We went to Smorgasburg in East River State Park, Brooklyn today for the first time to try several things there.
Every Saturday and Sunday, they have Smorgasburg but depends on which day, the location differs.
Smorgasburg was opened in 2011 by a Brooklyn based company called "Brooklyn Flea" which holds the largest flea market on the East Coast.

There're maybe 30 difference food stands and some had a long line.

First, I tried a donut from Dough.
I've even read this donut shop in a guide book sold in Japan and I wanted to try it.

There're about 10 people ahead of me but my turn came pretty quickly as all the donuts were already in the showcase.

Other donuts were stored in racks uncovered and placed outside of the tent, and technically they could be touched by anyone even from outside of the fence around the park.
It's a bit disturbing and poor hygiene as they'll be put in the showcase to sell.

Each donut was 2.75 dollars and I decided to get the brightest color donut; hibiscus.
I was skeptical about the flavor but I just gave a shot as this flavor appears first on the HP.

It's got very bright pink sugar glaze on the top with dried flower petals.

It's about my fist size.

The tallest part was about 4cm (1.6 inch).

The dough was soft like bread but not much flavor.
I tried the dough only and without glaze, it was tasteless.

About hibiscus glaze, I actually hated it.
It's very sugary sweet flavor with weird sour flavor over floral scent, and it's not something I'd enjoy.

I scraped the glaze off as much as I could but it's stuck there, and I already knew that the dough itself wasn't that tasty, I gave up eating this donut.

今日、初めてブルックリンのイーストリバー ステートパークで行われているスモーガス
バーグ（Smorgasburg）に行てきた。
毎週末行われているけれど、土曜と日曜で開催場所が異なる。
ブルクリンを拠点とするブルックリン フリー（Brookyln Flea）という2008年創業の会社が
2011年に飲食店ばかりを集めた広場「スモーガスバーグ」をオープンさせた。
また、この企業は東海岸で最大の蚤の市を行っている。

30種類ほど出店していて、中には行列ができているお店もあった。
私は日本で販売されているガイドブックにも載っていた「ドウ」というお店のドーナツを
買ってみることにした。
すでに10人ほどが並んでいたけれど、ドーナツは出来上がった状態でショーケースに
入っているので、すぐに私の番が来た。
他のドーナツはカバーがない状態でテントの外にある棚に乗っていて、広場を 囲んでいる
柵の外からも触れる状態だったので、これからショーケースに並べられて販売されると
思うと気持ちが悪く、不衛生に感じた。

どのドーナツも1個2.75ドルで、1番明るい色のハイビスカスを選んだ。
このフレーバーはHPでも最初のページに出ていたので、どんな味がするのか不安はあった
けれど買ってみることにした。

ドライ ハイビスカスの花びらと明るいピンクのグレーズがかかっていて、大きさは拳と
同じくらいあった。
1番分厚い部分は4センチほどあった。

生地はパンのような食感で柔らかかったけれど、あまり風味がなかった。
グレーズがかかっていない部分のみを食べたけれどほぼ味がなかった。
ハイビスカスのグレーズは、正直まずいと思った。
ものすごく甘く妙な酸味があり、フローラルの香りがし、私が好んで食べる味では
なかった。
グレーズを剥がしてみたけれどべったりと張りついていてはがせず、ドーナツ自体も
大して美味しくないと分かっていたので、半分も食べられなかった。
