Hot Fondue From 1001 Fondues
1001 Fondues

(Japanese follows. /

When we're in Montreal at the beginning of this month, we happened to find a winter market called "Le Grand Marché de Noël de Montréal" at Place des Arts.
The market was open from December 12 - January 2, and even though it's cold, we wandered around as it's the last day.

There're some food venders and we tried the following shops.
1001 Fondues
Queues de Castor/BeaverTails
Au Pied de Cochon

1001 Fondues was located near one of the entrances, and the name was easy to guess what they sell = fondue.

At the back of the shop, there're several baguette stuck upside down on a tool, and the baguettes were hollowed.

The staff took one of the baguettes and removed the lid of the pot, where melted cheese was kept warm, and she poured 4-5 ladlefuls of cheese.

The cheese was poured to the top of the baguette.

There're black peppers and it smelled really good.

The baguette wasn't toasted and soft, and the cheese had some sharpness and I think it's cheddar, gruyere, swiss and parmesan.

Every time I bit, the cheese overflew and it looked like an erupted volcano.
It's a bit difficult to eat without making a mess but still it's a much appreciated warm snack in such a cold weather.

Hot Fondue: 6 CND dollars (tax incl.)
