I was excited to wake up this morning, May 7th,  because McDonald's Japan has launched several new items and some are limited time only.
Some menus aren't available till 10:30 AM so I went to the closest branch around 11 AM to make sure I can order the ones I wanted to try.

Items I've reviewed from McDonald's Japan is the following.
Chicken Tatsuta Wafu Oroshi
Cheese Potato Dip

Items from other countries.
Grilled Onion Cheddar Burger
Poutine
Croissant
Baked Muffin

The goods I wanted to try first was McChurros and McShake Banana.
These are both available till early in June, and McChurros is sold all day but McShake can be only purchased from 10:30 AM till closing time (or 4:59 AM at 24hr branches).

Regarding "Churros," the reason I put as plural is that McDonald's Japan calls it with plural form.
In Japanese, even though you mention one churro, we call it "churros" as plural but meaning single.
If there're more than 2 churros, it's still "churros."

McChurros has 2 flavors you can choose from.
One is Cinnamon Sugar and the other one is Maple Flavored Syrup, which is served for pancakes.
They had Cafe Latte combi (means "set") for 299 JPY (tax incl.), and for single item, it's 159 JPY (tax incl.).

I ordered a Cinnamon Sugar McChurros, and also McShake Banana, but this one doesn't have fruit juice.

I said I'd eat here and they prepared a tray for me.
In a couple of minutes, they handed me a tray with a bag of churro, pouch of cinnamon sugar, a cup of shake and a straw in a paper package.

This is how it looked like when they gave me the tray with goods in Japan.
Everything is placed tidily; parallel to the tray.

McShake Banana
It's got sweet banana flavor, but it does NOT use any fruit juice.
Basically it's vanilla shake with banana flavor and yellow food coloring.

The scent was definitely artificial and had weird sweetness from fake banana.
I got Small size, but when I drank half of it, I started feeling cold.

McChurros Cinnamon Sugar
This is the pouch of cinnamon sugar.

Churros in a paper bag.

Pour all the powder into the bag of McChurros.

And I shoo the bag well after closing the lid back.

Tear in the dotted-line after shaking the bag.

The bag became a paper holder.

As you can see, Cinnamon Sugar didn't really coat the whole churro even though I shook the bag around (up and down, right to left).
Unlike french fries, this McChurro was pretty big and in a skinny bag, it's hard to shake it well to let it coated fully.

To me, the texture was similar to bread.
It's got crispy outside and the inside was soft and chewy.

When I first saw the news of McChurros, I was thinking of churros in Spain because the size was as same as the ones in Spain I had.
The churros I had there were thick like McChurros but fried and very greasy outside and served with thick and rich hot chocolate to soak or drink with.

When I saw there's no chocolate drink, I knew that McDonald's Japan didn't mimic the ones in Spain, but this McChurros wasn't crispy like the ones in Disneyland so that I felt like I was eating a stick of bread.

I don't have trouble eating cinnamon flavored plates, but it had very strong cinnamon flavor and scent.
I should have only poured a half pouch of the cinnamon sugar.

I started feeling tired of intense cinnamon flavor, so I decided to dip in McShake Banana.
But I made a big failure... When I flipped the McChurros, all the excess of cinnamon sugar which was at the bottom of the bag flooded into the shake...
You need to handle the McChurros bag with care.

Another failure was mixing McChurros and McShake Banana together.

Artificial banana flavored shake with too strong cinnamon sugar powder didn't go well.

Next time I try McChurros with Maple Flavored Syrup, I should remember it's called churros but it's like a stick of bread.

今日5月7日は朝起きるのをとても楽しみにしていた。
それは日本マクドナルドから期間限定商品を含め、新商品が発売されるから。
また、メニューによっては10：30以降に販売開始となる商品があるので、必ず注文できるように
11：00頃に近所のマクドナルドへ行ってきた。

これまで書いた日本マクドナルドの商品は以下。
チキンタツタ 和風おろし
チーズポテトディップ

海外の商品は以下。
グリルドオニオン チェダーバーガー
プーティン
クロワッサン
ベイクドマフィン

私が食べてみたかったのは、「マックチュロス」と「マックシェイク バナナ」の2つ。
どちらも6月上旬までの期間限定商品。
マックチュロスは営業時間内はいつでも購入できるけれど、マックシェイクに関しては10：30から
閉店まで（24時間営業店では4：59まで）のみ注文可能。

以前別の記事で触れたけれど、日本語では単数でも複数でも「チュロス」と複数形で呼ぶ。
外国では1本のチュロスを指す場合は、単数形の「チュロ (churro)」を使い、複数の場合は
「チュロス (churros)」となる。

マックチュロスは2種類フレーバーがあり、1つはシナモンシュガー、もう1つはメープルフレーバー
シロップで、このシロップはパンケーキに添えられているも。
カフェラテコンビが税込299円で、単品の場合は税込159円。

店内で食べると伝えたので、トレーを用意していた。
数分で袋に入ったチュロス、シナモンシュガー入りの小袋、シェイク、紙袋に入ったストローが
トレーに乗せられて手渡された。
商品がトレーと平行に並んでいて、やはり日本のファストフードはきちんとしている。

マックシェイク バナナ
バナナの香りがしたけれど、無果汁のシェイク。
バニラシェイクにバナナ香料と、黄色の食紅が入っているようだった。
明らかに偽物のバナナの香りがし、本物のバナナではない変な甘さもあった。
半分ほど飲んだところで、段々寒くなってきた。

マックチュロス シナモンシュガー
マックチュロスが入った紙袋の中へ、シナモンシュガーを全て投入し、紙袋を閉じてよく振った。
振り終わったら点線で切り、チュロスを持って食べる袋になる。
上下左右によく振ったものの、シナモンシュガーはチュロス全体にはかかっていなかった。
細く短いポテトとは違い、細長い袋の中で大きなチュロスを振るのは難しいと思う。

外はカリッとしていて、中はやわらかくもっちりしていたのでパンのようだった。
最初にマックチュロスのニュースを見た時は、その大きさからスペインのチュロスを想像していた。
スペインで食べたチュロスは、マックチュロスのように太いけれど、油で揚げてありギトギトで、
かなり濃厚なチョコレートドリンクと出され、それに浸したり一緒に飲んだりする。

チョコレートドリンクがない時点でスペインのチュロスを模倣したのではないと分かったけれど、
ディズニーのようなサクサクしたチュロスでもないので、本当にパンを食べているようだった。

シナモンは苦手ではないけれど、このシナモンはかなり強い香りと味がした。
シナモンシュガーの袋を半分だけ使えば良かったかもしれない。

段々飽きてきたので、マックシェイク バナナに浸してみた。
ただ、ここで大失敗。。。逆さまにしたら、袋の底に溜まっていたシナモンシュガーがシェイクの中へ
ザザーッと流れ落ちたので、マックチュロスの袋の取り扱いには要注意。

もう1つの失敗は、マックチュロスとマックシェイク バナナを混ぜたこと。
バナナ香料のシェイクと、強烈なシナモンシュガーは合わなかった。

次回は「パンみたいなチュロス」と念頭に置き、メープルフレーバーシロップを食べてみたい。
