Calbee pre-launched a new Kataage Potato flavor called "Honey Butter" on August 24, 2015, and the general launch is on September 14.

Kataage (堅あげ) literally means crunchy fried.

On the back, there's a short description about the flavor.
"Mild sweetness of honey and buttery flavor are mixed, and the sweet and salty flavor will be addictive."

On the right of the back, it explains that potato chips were born in the states and how kettle chips are made.

It had sweet honey flavor with oil when I opened the bag.

Many of the chips were pale, thick, crinkled, and wavy.

Each chip was covered with fine powder and the powder had not sugary but honey-sweet flavor.
Soon it started having salty flavor like butter.
It seems to me that the buttery flavor was too light for the sweet honey and it tasted like honey with salt.

カルビーはコンビ二先行で堅あげポテトの新フレーバー「はちみつバター味」を2015年8月
24日に発売した。
一般ルートでは9月14日に発売される。

裏面には味の簡単な説明があり、「はちみつのやさしい甘さとバターの芳醇な香りが合わ
さった、甘じょっぱさがクセになるおいしさです。」と書かれていた。
裏面の右側にはポテトチップスはアメリカ発祥であることと、釜揚げ製法について簡単に
記載されていた。

袋を開けると、甘いハチミツの香りと油の香りがした。
多くのポテトは色が淡く、厚いスライスで波打っていた。

各チップスは細かい粉で覆われていて、砂糖の甘さではなくハチミツの甘さがあった。
そしてすぐにバターに似た塩気が出てきた。
甘いハチミツの味に対してバターの香りが弱いように感じ、ハチミツと塩を混ぜたような
味だった。
