Honey Butter Chip From Haitai Confectionery & Foods Co.

A former intern who worked for my husband sent us a box of potato chips from Korea, and one of them is potato chips "Honey Butter Chip" produced by Haitai (Haetae) Confectionery & Foods Co.

It's produced by a joint company of Haitai and Calbee, the latter of whose logo is on the right top, but the flavor was actually created by Haitai itself after pre-market survey without the partner company, according to him.

He also told me the story behind, and since its launched in August 2014, this flavor has been crazy popular without any marketing but by word of mouth, but Haitai thought the popularity would be temporarily and was holding back to add extra manufacturing lines. --- I'm not sure if they ended up adding or kept it as it was.

Even some supermarkets held special promotions to combine a bag of Honey Butter Chip with other products, and 6 cans of Hite with this potato chips improved the sales by close to 54.8% while other bands did only 8.5%.

As he's given various information, I was really excited to try this chips.

I could only read "Honey Butter Chip" and learned how to write it in Korean, which is right above, though I don't think I can remember....

Lower side, there're a bee, a honey dipper with honey, potato chips, a potato with leaves, a jar of honey and some butter.

Near the butter, there's an blue Eiffel Tower, so I guess they use French butter.

On the back, left side had the same honey dipper with drizzling honey and a potato chip.

The red ribbon had the same line that the one on the front had, but again, I couldn't read it.

On the right side, there're ingredients and I understood the last 2 letters ( 감자 ) means potatoes, but I couldn't figure out what the first letter ( 생 ) meant as dictionary showed a whole bunch of descriptions like life, alive, from ~, fresh, etc.

But I assume they use some sort of potatoes 100%.

When I opened the bag, it had a very rich and flavorful butter scent.

Each potato chip was pale and sprinkled with parsley.

It's thinly sliced.

Not only the scent, but I tasted rich butter with salt and honey.

The butter was really tasty and it's like adding really high-end butter on a baked potato.

Light but good amount of honey flavor went so well with this chips.
It's sweet and salty like Happy Turn, but this Honey Butter Chip had much more delicate and fine flavor.

Apparently, Honey Butter Chip uses French gourmet butter after fermenting for 12 hours and acacia honey, and that explains why the scent and flavor were so good.

It's a very tasty and interning bag of potato chips and no wonder why it's been so famous.

以前旦那の下で働いていたインターンが、韓国のポテトチプスを送ってきてくれた。

そのうち1つは菓子製造企業のヘテが販売している「ハニーバターチップ」というポテト

チップス。

ヘテとカルビー（袋の右上にロゴが見える）の共同会社が製造しているのだけれど、この

フレーバーは市場導入前調査を行った後、ヘテが独自に作り出したらしい。

2014年8月に発売された時はマーケティングを行わなかったものの、口コミで大人気と

なった。

ただ、ヘテはこれは一時的な人気と考え製造ラインを追加することに気が進まなかった。（実際にラインを追加したかどうかは不明）

また、スーパーでハニーバターチップ1袋をハイトビール6缶に付けて販売したところ

54.8％も売り上げが伸びたようで、他のブランド商品を付けた際は8.5％しか売り上げが

伸びなかったらしい。

このように色々と情報を教えてもらっていたので、とてもワクワクしながら食べた。

表の中心よりも少し上に英語でハニーバターチップと書いてあり、その上に載っていた

韓国語が商品名と分かったけれど、書き方は覚えられそうにない。

下側にはハチ、ハチミツが付いたハニーディッパー、ポテトチップス、葉が付いたジャガ

イモ、ハチミツの入った壷、バターが描かれていた。

バターの側には青いエッフェル塔が載っていたので、フランスのバターを使っていると

予想。

カロリー等は表面の右下に載っていた。

裏面の左側にはハチミツが付いたハニーディッパーとポテトチップスが1枚載っていて、

赤いリボンには、表面の赤いリボンと同じ言葉が書かれていたものの解読不可能。

右側には原材料名が記載されていて、その上には韓国語で何かが100％だと書かれていた。

後ろの2文字（감자）がジャガイモを意味すると分かったけれど、1文字目は辞書を引くと

生活、生きた、〜生まれ、生など多くの意味が出てきたので、どの訳が正しいのかは

分からなかった。

とにかく何かしらのジャガイモが100％なのだろう。

袋を開けると濃厚でバターの良い香りがした。

薄くスライスされた薄いポテトには、淡い色のポテトにはパセリがかかっていた。

香りだけではなく味も濃厚なバターで、塩気とはちみつの香りがした。

バターは本当に美味しく、高級なバターをベイクドポテトに塗ったかのような味だった。

軽いもののしっかりしたハチミツの風味がポテトチップスと合っていた。
ハッピーターンのような甘塩っぱさがあるけれど、ハニーバターチップはもっと繊細で
上品な味だった。

このハニーバターチップは12時間発酵させたフランス産高級バターを使用し、アカシア

ハニーを使っているらしい。

とても美味しく面白い味のポテトチップスで、大人気なのも納得。
