Bisco Shortcake Flavor

(Japanese follows. /

Glico launched Shortcake Flavor Bisco on November 11, 2014 and it's meant for Christmas season.

Usually the boy on the package doesn't wear any hat but as it's for the holiday, he's wearing a santa hat.
A mini santa at the left bottom has a bag stating that Bisco is approved by Santa Clause representative of Japan who is approved by Greenland International Santa Claus Association.
It's new to me but Bisco has been only one Japanese snack which is officially authorized by World Santa Claus Congress for 2 years in a row.

On the right side, there's a wreath and in the middle, it says, "Let's express your appreciation!"
And this bag contains 16 individual pouches and there're different messages printed on the front.
Underneath the wreath, there's an image of strawberry shortcake and next to it, the flavor was written "shortcake flavor" on a gold ribbon.

On the back, there're stories about World Santa Claus Congress held by Greenland International Santa Claus Association and Bisco.

On the right side of the back, it explains about the messages.
Each pouch has a message to show appreciation.
At the bottom, it says, "On Christmas, let's give Bisco to your family and friends who help you!!"

There're 6 kinds in the bag, and I think this bag happened to contain all the messages available as they sell these mini pouches with the same variation of messages.

(Korekaramo Yoroshiku)" is I'll be counting on you or I'm looking forward to a continued relationship.

(Otsukaresama Desu)" is used at work and this can be used for everyone, even to a higher ranked people at work.
And it means good night when you leave the office or even middle of the day as a greeting.
It literally means that you must be tired, but this phrase is used to reward and thank someone for his/her services.

(Tottemo Daisuki)" means I like you a lot.

"Thank You"

(Doumo Arigatou)" means thank you very much.
I don't know why they put 2 thank you messages in 2 languages.

(Merry Christmas)"

On the back, it says "Approved by Santa!" in read.
Underneath, it indicates who approved; Santa Claus representative of Japan who is approved by Greenland International Santa Claus Association.

There're 2 biscuit ins each pouch.

Though the piece was small, it had sugary and sweet cake flavor.
The biscuit was crispy like regular Bisco, and the filling was as sweet as it smelled.
However, it also had sour strawberry taste, too, and it actually uses strawberry powder.

Customized Bisco "DataHotel"

  1. I got the "どうもありがとう" when I bought the mini pack (5 pieces) last month! I didn't see the "Thank You" version though and I wonder why they use two languages for this too

    1. Were they all "どうもありがとう" or mixed with other messages?
If it's meant for Christmas, they could have focused on holiday-related phrases, not like "おつかれさまです" that I really thought it's weird...

    2. There were mixed messages but they were random from one konbini to the other.

Hahaha I know right? I was dumbstruck too, like why "おつかれさまです" on Christmas Day?

    3. Mixed messages <-- I see.

Otsukaresamadesu is used almost every day by someone, and to see the specific message among other words was really weird :p
