Glico established "Day of Pocky & Pretz" in 1999 as 1111 looks like 4 pieces of Pocky and Pretz, and they practice campaigns every year on the day.

So today, I went to a Japanese supermarket called Dainobu as I knew they have authentic Pocky and Pretz.
And sure they and some varieties and I found interesting fact that they had 2 different packages for a regular Pocky.
One was Japanese package with a small sticker of ingredients in English on the back, and the other was all English package.
Though they contain same amount, the Japanese packaged Pocky was slightly more expensive by about 50 cents than that of English package.
Maybe it's because Japanese package is rare???

I was going to get the regular Pocky in a red package, but I found a season limited flavor so I decided to get the special one.
It's "Rich Matcha Flavored Pocky."

This flavor was launched on February 11, 2014 for a limited time but I didn't have this flavor when I was in Japan.

On the front, the background was gradation of checkerboard with Matcha powder and 3 Matcha flavored Pocky.

On the back side, it says that the biscuit contains Hoji-cha, roasted green tea, and the chocolate uses stone-ground rich flavored Matcha.

There're 2 individual packages inside, and at the top and the bottom was bright green and gradually it's changed to bronze.

The biscuit had darker color than regular Pocky, which has much paler biscuit stick.

From the package, I thought the chocolate part would be covered in Matcha powder, but there's no powder but smooth surface.

The color was dusty green and the chocolate had light bitterness after sweet flavor.

With roasted and fragrant flavor from the Hoji-cha biscuit and sweet and bitter Matcha chocolate were quite good.

今日11月11日は「ポッキー&プリッツの日」と言われている。
1111が4本のポッキー、プリッツに見えることからグリコが1999年に制定したもので、
毎年この日にキャンペーンを実施している。

ダイノブという日本食スーパーなら本物のポッキーとプリッツが売っていると分かって
いたので、今日はダイノブへ行ってきた。
スーパーには数種類のポッキーとプリッツが置いてあり、面白いことにも気がついた。
普通の赤い箱のポッキーが、日本語のパッケージと英語のパッケージの2種類あり、
内容量は同じなのに日本語のパッケージの方が50セントほど高かった。
日本語のパッケージは珍しいから高いのかも？

普通のポッキーを買おうと思っていたけれど、期間限定の「深あじ抹茶 ポッキー」を
見つけたので限定品を買った。
2014年2月11日に発売されたらしいけれど、日本にいた時に見た覚えがない。
パッケージの表は市松模様がグラデーションになっている背景に抹茶の粉が敷かれ、その
上に3本の抹茶味ポッキーが並んでいた。

裏面には、生地にほうじ茶が練り込まれていて、チョコレートには旨味が強い石臼挽きの
抹茶が入っていると書かれていた。

中には2個の袋が入っていて、上下が緑色で徐々に銅色に変わっているデザインだった。
ビスケット部分は通常のポッキーよりも少し濃い茶色だった。
パッケージを見てチョコレート部分に抹茶の粉がかかっていると思っていたけれど、粉は
かかっていなくてつるつるの表面だった。
チョコレートは少しくすんだ緑色で、うぐいす色に近く、甘さの後に抹茶独特の苦みが
あった。

ほうじ茶の香ばしい香りがするビスケットと、抹茶の苦みがある 甘いチョコレートが
とてもよく合っていた。

なぜか成分表示が日本語と英語では数字が異なっていたけれど、カロリー表記は日本語の
データを書き出した。
