Morinaga Milk Industry Co., Ltd., a milk and confectionery company launched Hojicha Latte on February 4, 2014.

Hojicha is a type of green tea and it's roasted over charcoal until the leaves turn red-brown.
When you pour into a cup, you can smell roasted flavor and see brownish color.

I like Hojicha and time to time I drink it, but I've never added any milk or sugar to it.
In Thailand, I tried its green tea which is famous for using sugar to make it sweet but I felt weird (it's not bad though) so I was wondering how this Hojicha Latte would taste.

On the package, it says:
A tea expert, Lipton introduces "Ojicha Latte"!
Roasted flavor from domestically produced Hojicha is blended into sweet milk.
Please enjoy the harmony of Hojicha flavor and milk.

The liquid was pale beige and it had roasted scent.

It first tasted like royal milk tea, but soon I tasted characteristic roasted flavor of Hojicha.
It's definitely not same as milk tea but it's very similar.
Maybe Hojicha Latte is more refreshing and doesn't leave much sugary flavor in the mouth to compare with milk tea.
If you're looking for a new type of latte, this could be the one.

2014年2月4日に森永乳業から「リプトン ほうじ茶ラテ」が発売された。

ほうじ茶は緑茶の一種で、炭の上で茶葉が赤茶色になるまで焙じたもので香ばしい香りがあり、
お茶を注ぐと茶色をしている。

ほうじ茶は好きでたまに飲むけれど、今まで牛乳や砂糖を入れて飲んだことはない。
タイに行ったときは現地の緑茶を飲んでみたけれど、タイの緑茶は砂糖入りで甘く、
変な感じがした（←決して不味くはなかった）。
そのため、このほうじ茶ラテがどんな味がするか気になった。

箱には「茶の専門家・リプトンが、"ほうじ茶ラテ" を新提案！
やさしいミルクの甘さの中に、国産ほうじ茶の香ばしい香りが溶け込んだ、新しい美味しさ。
ふんわりと広がるほうじ茶の香ばしさと、ミルクのハーモニーをお楽しみください。」とある。

液体の色は淡いベージュで、香ばしい香りがした。
最初はロイヤルミルクティーの様な味がして、その後すぐにほうじ茶独特の香ばしい味がした。
ミルクティーと同じではないけれど、かなり近い。
ミルクティーに比べると、ほうじ茶ラテはすっきりしていて、口の中に甘い後味が残りにくい。
普通のラテに飽きて新しいラテを探しているなら、これがお勧め。
