Freshness Burger Brought Back The Vegetable Burger
フレッシュネスバーガーが期間・数量限定で「ベジタブルバーガー」を再販売

Freshness Burger is a fast food chain in Japan.
Founded in 1992 and they serve burgers, sandwiches, coffee, sweets, and after 5PM, they sell beer, too.

When I want a burger, I usually go to McDonald's so it's so rare that I actually wanted to go to Freshness Burger.
The reason is to get the Vegetable Burger.
Whenever I hear or read "vegetable burger" in Japan, they usually contain a lot of veggies (or dressing is made with vegetables) but then it also contains meat patty.
So I was guessing the veggie burger Freshness was reselling would be served with meat.
However, it does NOT contain any meat.

On the webpage, it's said;
We had "Vegetable Burger (Mushroom)" back in 2010 and improved the burger and brought it back on September 10, 2013.
This time, we use a domestically-produced whole Jumbo Mushroom and serve a limited quantity per day.
In addition, fresh green curl (curl lettuce), tomato, thick-sliced grilled onion are used.
You can enjoy the fleshy Mushroom with Freshness' special balsamic sauce and non-egg vegetable mayonnaise that add richness to the burger.

*They also created another vegetable burger with bean-made patty and no meat is used.
I may try if I get a chance, too.

I went to a Freshness Burger around 4:30PM and asked if they still had Mushroom Burger today, then the cashier said yes, so I ordered.
And I asked no mayo because I hate mayo. It doesn't matter if it's non-egg or not, anything has the mayo taste, I avoid certainly.

About 5 minutes later, I got my no mayo "Vegetable Burger 'Mushroom' " and brought it home to try.
It had some sort of vinegary and smoked flavor, which I usually don't smell when I get a burger.

This is the Vegetable Burger with Jumbo Mushroom for the patty.

The mushroom was bigger than I thought.
When I saw the visual, I thought they exaggerated the image and the actual mushroom patty would be small.
But the size of the mushroom was almost the same size of the bun and looked almost same as the posters and banners they made.

And the mushroom was about 2cm thick.

The balsamic sauce was adding more flavor to the mushroom and veggies were fresh.
The huge mushroom was surprisingly juicy and it made me wonder how they prepared it.
It had richer flavor than mushroom and it reminded of me Shiitake mushroom.
To chew off the mushroom was a little bit tough, by the way.
Grilled onion was adding more flavor and kick to the burger; some flavor and sweetness.
Without mayo, it tasted pretty good.

I like mushrooms so if you like them, too, I highly recommend you try this without worrying about the calories since it's a veggie burger, most of the calories from the bun and the sauce.
As I ordered without mayo, I assume the calories were lower and also less fat in my burger.
