I've seen Ghostbusters before but never heard of Hi-C Ecto Cooler as I grew up in Japan.
My husband said Hi-C Ecto Cooler is a fruit drink with a image of Slimer from The Real Ghostbusters, which is a TV anime series based on The Ghostbusters released in 1984.
The base is Hi-C's Citrus Cooler which has been sold since the 1960s, and they added green food coloring to it.

Hi-C Ecto Cooler was released in 1989 and made a huge hit, and for this year's reboot of The Ghostbusters, they brought the classic beverage back.
Even before they're available on the shelves on May 30, 2016, many went crazy and it's still hard to find except some lucky people.
I stopped by every single supermarket, drug store, and even a non-chain small shop, but for over a month, I had never seen the product.
Then, my husband found out that a movie theater called Connecticut Post 14 has it in a can, and we drove up there just for the soda after calling and confirming that they really has the cans.
It's not displayed in the fridges where you can grab and bring it to the cashier, but when we asked a staff behind the counter, she brought us a can.
Though the original package had Slimer on the front, the new version doesn't have the ghost on, which was a huge disappointment for me.
When I opened the can, I instantly noticed orange scent.
Though it had sweet and zesty orange scent, the juice was transparent green.
Same as the scent, it's a refreshing and sweet orange juice.

エクトクーラーは聞いたことがなかった。
旦那によると、ハイシー エクトクーラーは1984年に公開されたゴーストバスターズの
アニメ版である、リアル・ゴーストバスターズのスライマーの画像が載ったフルーツ飲料
らしい。
基となっているのは1960年代から販売されている、ハイシー シトラスクーラーで、これに
緑色の着色料を足してある。

ゴーストバスターズに合わせ、このドリンクを再発売することになった。
2016年5月30日の発売日前からニュースとなり、いまだにラッキーな人を除いて発見する
のが難しい。
どのスーパーマーケットやドラッグストア、チェーンではない簡易コンビニへ入った
けれど、1ヶ月以上この商品を見ることはなかった。
つい最近、旦那がコネチカット ポスト 14という映画館にエクトクーラーの缶があると
聞き、映画館に電話で確認をしてから運転して缶を買いに行った。
自分で飲み物を取ってレジに進んで支払う冷蔵庫には缶はなかったので、カウンターの
スタッフに聞くと1缶持ってきてくれた。
元祖のパッケージにはスライマーがデザインされていたものの、今回の商品にはその
デザインがなくとても残念だった。
缶を開けると、オレンジの香りがした。
甘くキリッとした香りとは違い、ジュースは透明な緑色だった。
香りと同じすっきりした甘さのオレンジジュースで、飲みやすかった。
