Rye House Port Chester

(Japanese follows. /

My husband booked a table at Rye House Port Chester for Mother's Day brunch.
It opened in January 2015 near Port Chester station and 2 streets down from the border of Greenwich.
The original restaurant is in Flatiron District, NY, but this is my first time to visit any Rye House.

It's a spacious restaurant with high ceiling, and there're tables and bar counters.

On the brick wall, there're panels of "2015 Best of Westchester with Truffle Grilled Cheese that we're interested in.

The New York Times reviewed this restaurant.

Table

Menu

It's a brunch menu, and unfortunately there's no Truffle Grilled Cheese...
I thought it's a lack of selections as a brunch menu.

Ginger Tuna
Jicama Mango Salad, Avocado Carpaccio, Lemon Hibiscus Dressing
Jicama was crunchy, mango was sweet and the surface of the tuna was grilled.
It's seasoned with salt and didn't have fishy odor, and the ripe avocado was creamy and went well with the tuna.
The pink garnishing tasted like fried pickled ginger.

After appetizer, a basket of warm cinnamon raisin and blueberry poundcake was served.
These were moist, soft, and AMAZING.

Hanger Steak Salad
Watercress, Tomatoes, Potato Coins, Red Wine Vinaigrette

Hanger steak is the only organ that I'd be willing to eat because the diaphragm just tastes like red meat to me.

Not mentioned in the menu, but there're blue cheese mixed with watercress so that I removed as much cheese as possible first.
Personally, the blue cheese aroma and taste are too strong to taste the meat for me.
The steaks were cooked to medium as I asked, and the fragrant and crispy surface with soft and a bit chewy inner were such a great combination.
It's said to be potato coins, but actual potatoes weren't sliced like coins but largely chopped mini potatoes.
I very much enjoyed the hanger steaks here, but still my No.1 favorite is what I had at The National Greenwich.

Ginger Tuna: 15 dollars
Hanger Steak Salad: 18 dollars
* Both before tax.
