Boar’s Head Bold Ichiban Teriyaki Style Chicken Breast

(Japanese follows. /

We buy deli meat and cheese often, maybe at least twice a week, from the supermarket nearby.
They changed the deli meat brand a couple of months ago and now they sell Boar's Head.

Boar's Head supplies delicatessen meats, cheeses and condiments.
The company was founded in 1905 in Brooklyn, New York currently distributes their products nationwide.
Since 2001, the headquarter is in Sarasota, Florida.

We saw a commercial about their new flavor called "Bold Ichiban Teriyaki Style Chicken Breast" on TV, and though the commercial is a very stereotyped image of Japan, or even it gets lumped together with other Asian countries, especially China, they say it's "inspired by a timeless Japanese culinary principles."
* Ichiban (1番) means number one.

Commercial.

My husband bought some after watching the commercial, and they had the Bold Ichiban Teriyaki Style Chicken Breast.
The sticker on the plastic in which they put the thinly sliced meat didn't say the name, but he made sure they sliced that specific flavor.

It had very strong ginger scent and there're tiny red dots.
I thought it'd have salty soy sauce and sweet flavor because of the name, but the first flavor and scent we noticed was strong and spicy ginger.
It had subtle sweetness but not really teriyaki but salty, ginger flavored moist chicken breast.
I also tasted some star anise which my husband didn't think there was.
Our favorite is Buffalo so far, and this new flavor was far from what I, Japanese, think of teriyaki.
