Today, June 1, 2015, Taste of Times Square 2015 was held on Broadway.
It's an annual food and music festival for rain or shine, and today, even though it's raining all day and quite windy, they sure had the event run as it's planned.
There're more than 50 Times Square's restaurants are offering their food, and all you need is to buy the "Taste Tickets" which are 1 dollar each.
Depending on the items, the numbers of tickets required differ and the price range was 1 ~ 5 as far as we saw.

Depending on the items, the numbers of tickets required differ and the price range was 1 ~ 5 as far as we saw.
We first bought 10 tickets to start with since the line to buy the tickets wasn't long and almost every corner had the ticket booth.
Apparently, this is a famous steakhouse, but the beef patty smelled weird and stinky...
It's cold and not really seasoned and it's "meh."
Buffalo Wild Wings "Cheesecake Bites" --- 1 ticket
These were breaded and fried cheesecake bites.
They're served warm and the outside was crispy and the inside was creamy.
While we're eating this, a stranger asked me what these and where we got them, and she went to the booth right away.
Ilili Box At City Kitchen "Falafel Beiruti" --- 3 tickets
The seasoning was good and they actually put tahini, white sesame seed paste, but everything was cold and it's a rip-off price for 1 and a half falafel...
Schnippers "Sloppy Joe" --- 2 tickets
This sloppy joe was AMAZING.
It's served warm and the amount of meat they gave us was a lot for 2 tickets.
It had very dense tomato flavor with onions and some other spices, and the buns were fluffy.
There're some bands.
John's of Times Square "Assorted Slices of Pizza" --- 1 ticket
There're some bands.
When I saw the menu, I thought I was getting a mini sized various kinds of pizzas on a plate, but actually it's a choice of sliced pizza.
It's a cheese pizza, and it's not hot yet the crust was chewy, had subtle sweetness yet thin and foldable, and the tomato sauce and cheese were simple yet flavorful.
I'd love to get a freshly baked one next time at the restaurant.
Crossroads "Salted Soft Pretzel with Warm Gooey Cheese Sauce" --- 3 tickets
We used up all the 10 tickets, so we bought another 10 tickets after this pizza.
It's a melted cheese in a plastic cone served with a soft pretzel log.
Planet Hollywood "Bananas Foster Cheesecake" --- 3 tickets
The cheese was gooey and melty, and the pretzel was soft and chewy.
The cheese sauce had some spiciness.
When I placed my order, the banana sauce wasn't ready and when it's cooked, I got a slice of cheesecake with freshly made banana sauce.
As a Japanese, it's still unusual to see a dish served with a cutlery stuck on but I guess it's practical for both of the venders and consumers as I can easily carry this plate by one hand.
Havana Central Restaurant & Bar "Empanada de Picadillo" (ground beef) --- 2 tickets

The cheesecake was creamy and rich, and had a very dense cheese flavor.
The sauce had intense cinnamon scent, but when I had it with the cheesecake, the scent was weakened a bit and it's enjoyable.
The bananas weren't mushy and had a nice texture.
According to my husband, this restaurant used to be near Columbia University.
This empanada was fried and the outside was crispy.
Doubletree Suites by Hilton Time Square "Doubletree Cookie" --- 2 cookies
Olives, green peppers and diced tomatoes were inside.
The filling was seasoned well and very juicy.
I've reviewed this cookie before and I liked it, and to use up the last 2 tickets, we bought this "a gratis sweet for hotel guests cookie."
今日、2015年6月1日、テイスト オブ タイムズスクエア 2015がブロードウェイで開催
された。
これは年に一度開かれているもので、晴れ・雨にかかわらず行われる食べ物と音楽の
イベントで、今日は一日中雨が降り風も強かったけれど予定通り開催された。
タイムズスクエアにある50店舗以上のレストランが出店し、「テイスト チケット」を使用
して購入する。
チケットは1枚1ドルで商品によって必要となるチケットの枚数が異なり、多くのお店が
1〜5枚で商品を提供していた。
まずは10枚（10ドル）のチケットを買った。
チケットの販売テントに行列はできておらず、ほぼ各ブロックに販売所があったので、
足りない場合は後で買うことにした。
バッファローワイルドウィングス「チーズケーキ バイト」 --- 1枚
イリリ ボックス アット シティキッチン「ファラフェル ベイルーティ」 --- 3枚
味は良く、白ゴマのペースト「タヒーニ」が使われているのは良かったけれど、全体が
冷めていて1個半のファラフェルに対して3枚は高い。
シュニッパーズ「スロッピージョー」 --- 2枚
このスロッピージョーはとても美味しかった。
スロッピージョーとは、牛挽肉をトマトやタマネギと煮込んだもので、ハンバーガーに
挟んで食べる。
温かい状態で提供され、2枚に対してかなり沢山のフィリングがお皿に乗っていた。
とても濃いトマト味でタマネギやスパイスの味もし、バンズはふんわりしていた。
ジョーンズ オブ タイムズスクエア「アソーテッド スライス オブ ピザ」 --- 1枚
メニューを見た時、小さなサイズのピザが数種類入ったお皿が渡されるのかと思っていた
けれど、好きなピザを1枚選ぶというものだった。
これはチーズピザで、温かくはなかったけれど生地はもちっとし、少し甘味があり、折り
畳める薄さで、トマトソースとチーズはシンプルだったけれど美味しかった。
今度はお店に行って熱々を食べてみたい。
ここでチケット10枚が全て無くなったので、さらに10枚購入した。
クロスローズ「ソルテッド ソフト プレッツェルとチーズソース」 --- 3枚
プラスチックの容器にチーズソースを入れ、棒状の柔らかいプレッツェルが入っていた。
チーズはとろっと溶けていて、プレッツェルは柔らかくもっちりしていた。
チーズソースは少しピリッとした味がした。
プラネット ハリウッド「バナナ フォスター チーズケーキ」 --- 3枚
注文した時にバナナソースが調理中だったので、出来立てのソースがかかったチーズ
ケーキをもらうことができた。
日本人の私にとって、食品にフォーク等が刺さった状態で出されるのは未だに妙に感じる
のだけれど、売り手・買い手ともに片手で簡単に持ち運べることを考えると実用的なの
かもしれない。
ハバナ セントラル レストラン&バー 「エンパナーダ デ ピカディジョ」（牛挽肉） --- 2枚
旦那によると、以前はコロンビア大学の近くにあったらしい。
このエンパナーダは揚げてあり、外側はサクサクしていた。
ダブルツリー スイート バイ ヒルトン タイムズスクエア「ダブルツリー クッキー」 --- 2枚
以前このクッキーのレビューを書いたことがあり、とても美味しかったので、チケットを
使い切るために最後の2枚をこのクッキーの購入に使った。
（通常はホテル宿泊者に無料で配布される）
色々食べられるイベントで、チケット制なので財布を出す頻度が少なくて良かった。
天気が良ければはもっと混雑していたと思うので、雨で良かったのかもしれない。
ただ、人ごみで周りに注意を払わずに傘を使っている人が多くて危ないと思った。
雨の日にこのようなイベントに行く場合は、カッパが便利かつ安全。
Unlike the actual hotel, the cookie wasn't warm but still sooooo good!
As the cookie was cool, the cookie dough and chocolate chips were firm and the cookie had some crispy, chunky, and crunchy texture.
It's a fun event with various foods and it's nice to have less occasions to take out my wallet as all the venders use the Taste Tickets.
If the weather had been better, it must have been much more crowded and I guess it's fortunate it rained in a way.
However, there're many people using umbrellas without paying attention to others in the crowd and I thought it's very dangerous.
I'd say when one is going to a event like this in the rain, s/he had better wear a raincoat.

ルースズ クリス ステーキハウス「ビーフスライダー」 --- 3枚
有名なステーキハウスらしいけれど、ビーフパティは臭みがあり変な臭いがした。
冷めていて特に下味もついていなく、がっかりだった。
バッファローワイルドウィングス「チーズケーキ バイト」 --- 1枚
パン粉を付けて揚げた1口サイズのチーズケーキで、温かい状態で出されたので外側は
サクサクし、内側はクリーミーだった。
食べていると知らない人に「これは何？どこで買ったの？」と聞かれたので教えると、
その人はすぐにブースに向かっていた。

チーズケーキはクリーミーで濃厚で、チーズの味が濃かった。
バナナソースはシナモンの香りがかなり強かったけれど、チーズケーキと一緒に食べると
香りが少し和らぎ食べやすかった。
バナナはドロドロになっておらずまだ食感が残っていて美味しかった。
ハバナ セントラル レストラン&バー 「エンパナーダ デ ピカディジョ」（牛挽肉） --- 2枚

中にはオリーブ、ピーマン、トマトの角切りが入っていて、味がしっかり付いていてかなり
ジューシーだった。
ダブルツリー スイート バイ ヒルトン タイムズスクエア「ダブルツリー クッキー」 --- 2枚
以前このクッキーのレビューを書いたことがあり、とても美味しかったので、チケットを
使い切るために最後の2枚をこのクッキーの購入に使った。

ホテルで出されるものとは違って温かくはなかったけれど、相変わらず美味しかった。
クッキーは冷めていたので、クッキー生地もチョコレートチップも硬くなっていて、サク
サクしたり、カリカリした食感があった。
色々食べられるイベントで、チケット制なので財布を出す頻度が少なくて良かった。
