タニタ食堂の100kcalデザート パンナコッタ
(Japanese follows. / 日本語は以下へ続く。)
Tanita Shokudo and Morinaga collaborated and launched "Tanita Shokudo's 100kcal Dessert Panna Cotta" on June 24, 2014, for a limited season.
Tanita Corporation is a measuring equipments producer in Japan founded in 1944.
They're well-known for weight scales with body fat measurement.
In 1999, the company opened a company cafeteria to maintain and improve the health of the employees.
The concept was "While eating delicious food, you lose weight without realizing" and it's covered by one of the TV programs.
Then a book publisher offered to create a recipe book based on the Tanita Shokudo, cafeteri, and they actually published several recipes so far.
The cafeteria in Tanita is meant for the employees so that it's not opened to the public, but on January 11, 2012, "Marunouchi Tanita Shokudo" was opened in Marunouchi, Tokyo, with dishes based on the recipe book.
On June 15, 2012, the second branch, "NTT Medical Center Tokyo Tanita Shokudo" was opened.
This is a 100kcal dessert of panna cotta with strawberry and raspberry sauce.
On the back side, it says they didn't use artificial sweetener but brought out the tastiness of the ingredients.
And instead of heavy cream, they used milk to make panna cotta.
After tearing up the paper package, I saw other explanation inside.
"Tanita's Healthy Column
Why 100kcal?
Ideal calories of a snack should be about 100kcal while you're on a diet, or 100 - 200kcal if you're not.
100kcal is a good portion to satisfy the hunger moderately and not to overeat.
Don't strictly starve yourself but take some healthy snacks and have a tasty and fun diet."
I understand the importance of controlling the hunger with some light snacks, but once I start eating, I can't stop, so I'd rather not eat snacks during diet...
The lid of the cup.
"Though it's 100kcal, it's a satisfying dessert."
The cup was light blue and "tanita 100kcal dessert" was printed around the cup.
I was expecting to see the berry sauce on the top, so when I took the lid off, I was a little bit surprised to see the plain white content.
The sauce was on the bottom, but it's much lighter pink than that of the photo shown on the package.
The texture of the panna cotta was chewy and rich, but the aftertaste was refreshing without leaving any yucky texture on the tongue.
The sauce was very light and loose similar to crushed jelly with subtle sweet and sour flavor, it's not that fulfilling to me.
If it had consistency and starchiness like jam with fruits flesh, it would have been more filling.
