I was looking for new items sold at a conbini and found an interesting drink.
It's called "Active Lactic Acid Bacteria With Passion Fruit."

I've never thought of mixing lactic bacteria beverage with fruits which are not that common or easy to find.
I was curious what it's like (texture and flavor), so I bought one, besides it's available for a limited time.
It's launched on May 12, 2014.

It's produced by Nissin York Co., Ltd.
It's a dairy product and soft-drink maker and a part of  Nissin group.
I'd never heard Nissin York and every time I hear Nissin, I think of instant noodles like Chikin Ramen and Cup Noodles.

On the top, it says "contains lactobacillus casei (NY 1301 strain) will reach bowels alive."

On the side, there's an explanation what is good about lactobacillus delivered to bowels.
The reason it's best to have the lactic acid bacteria in bowels, they'd create lactic acid which keep the intestine acidulent (mildly acidic) and stabilize the balance of bacteria in the gut.
And it recommends you drink every day.

First I thought the beverage inside would be thicker like yogurt drink because when milk or any dairy product mixed with sour fruits, milk gets clabbered and becomes like soft jello.
However, it didn't have any thick texture but regular soft drink like water.
So I realized that this is not a yogurt drink and only uses lactic acid bacteria.

It had subtle velvety texture and light sweetness which are found in ordinary lactobacillus drinks, and the after taste was sour as if diluted pineapple juice.

As the front says "refreshing sweet flavor of southern land," it tasted pretty much like that.

コンビニで新商品が出ていないか見ていると、気になる商品「はたらく乳酸菌 パッションフルーツ」
という名前の飲み物を見つけた。
今までそれほど一般的ではなく、簡単に手に入らないような物と乳酸菌飲料を混ぜることなど
考えたことがなかったので、どんな質感・味なのか気になり、期間限定だったので買ってみた。
2014年5月12日発売。

日清グループの日清ヨークという乳製品や清涼飲料水メーカーが製造している。
今まで日清ヨークという会社名を聞いたことがなかった。
また、日清と聞くとチキンラーメンやカップヌードルのインスタント麺のイメージが強い。

パッケージ上部には「生きたまま腸に届くカゼイ菌（NY1301株）使用」と記載されていた。
側面には乳酸菌が生きたまま腸に届くと良い理由は、生きた乳酸菌が作る乳酸は腸内を
弱酸性にして腸内細菌のバランスを安定させると書かれていた。
そのため、毎日飲むことが良いとのこと。

酸味のある果物と牛乳や乳製品を混ぜると柔らかいゼリーのように固まるので、最初は
ドロッとした液体が出てくるかと思っていたけれど、サラサラで水のような状態だった。
ヨーグルトではなく、乳酸菌のみ入っている飲み物だと気がついた。

飲んでみたところ、乳酸菌飲料の軽いとろみと甘さがあり、後味はパイナップルを薄くしたような

酸味があった。

正面に「すっきり甘い南国の香り」とある通りの味だった。
