I thought Jaga Pokkuru and Jaga Pirika were only sold in Hokkaido, but I spotted them at a souvenir shop in Narita airport.
Usually I don't buy large boxes of snacks as they take up space in the airplane, yet I couldn't resist and bought 1 box each.
Pirika is an Ainu word and it means cute.

3 kinds of potatoes were born in Hokkaido, a potato kingdom.
These cute trio are colorful and rich in taste.
A bite-sized, chubby shaped snack.

Jaga Pirika is made with colored potatoes called "Northern Ruby" and "Kita Murasaki."
The vivid color is the natural color of the potatoes.

Northern Ruby and Kita Murasaki contain anthocyanin pigment, a type of polyphenol.

The actual snacks were as colorful as the images.

Each potato was cut into cubes and had skins on.
If the potatoes had been boiled or steamed, I would have been able to tell the difference in the flavors, but as they're small and fried, they pretty much tasted the same.
Though they're little, they were really crispy.

じゃがポックルとじゃがピリカは北海道でのみ販売されていると思っていたけれど、偶然
成田空港のお土産や産で見つけた。
普段は機内で邪魔になるので大きな箱の商品は買わないけれど、どうしても食べたかった
ので1箱ずつ買った。
ピリカはアイヌ語で、かわいいを意味する。

じゃがいも王国 北海道で生まれた3種類のかわいい仲間。
彩りゆたかで味わいゆたか。

じゃがピリカは、北海道で大切に育てられた有色じゃがいも「ノーザンルビー」と「キタ
ムラサキ」を使っています。あざやかな赤や紫は、じゃがいもそのままの色合いです。

ノーザンルビーとキタムラサキは、アントシアニン色素というポリフェノールのひとつが
含まれている。

袋には3種類のじゃがいもが載っていた。

画像と同じくらいカラフルなじゃがいもが入っていた。

どのじゃがいもも立方体にカットされていて、皮が付いたままだった。
茹でたり蒸したりしてあればそれぞれの味の違いが分かったかもしれないけれど、小さく
揚げてあったこともあり、ほぼどれも同じ味だった。
大きさは小さいものの、サクサクした食感がしっかりあった。
