ウィッチクラフト イーストトライベッカ プライベートテイスティング

A friend of ours invited us to a private tasting event at the new 'wichcraft location in East Tribeca to preview the new location and experience the new menu before the official opening to the public.
The event was carried out today, July 15, 2016, from 11 AM to 2 PM, and we arrived there around 11:30 AM.
There're many people enjoying the food and drinks, and staffs were providing mini samples.
We're given menu leaflets and also a bag with the logo.
The bags were displayed by the windows, too.
All the items were free, and to begin with, I tried Steak & Onions from Signature 'wiches and a small Green Tea.
I had Grilled Cheese before, but the menu board didn't have it listed here.
After ordering, I was given a receipt with my name on (I spelled my name) and a metal number plate to place the table so that a staff can bring the food and drink.
2 minutes after ordering, my Green Tea was brought.
The staff who brought green tea put the placing mat first, then provided the tea and a straw.
It's unsweetened and had subtle bitterness of green tea, and the aftertaste was citric and refreshing as if it's lemongrass.
After 10 minutes of waiting, the sandwich was brought.
Steak & Onions
Between country bread, there're grilled flank steak, balsamic onion relish, arugula and romesco.
Romesco sauce is made from almond, pine nuts, garlic, olive oil, tomato, red bell pepper and paprika powder, and it's originated in Catalonia, Spain.
The sandwich was about 20cm (7.87 inch) long.
It's a thick sandwich with a lot of good looking ingredients.
From the top, there're balsamic onion relish, cheese, arugula, cheese, flank steak and romesco sauce.
When I saw "relish," I thought it'd be quite sour like sauerkraut, but the sourness was mild and it's more flavorful with sweet onions and aromatic balsamic vinegar.
I think the cheese was swiss as it had some sharpness, arugula was fresh and lightly bitter and spicy, flank steak was thinly sliced like deli meat and soft and juicy, and romesco sauce was nutty, refreshing, and had sweetness from vegetables.
The surface of the bread was crispy and the crust was crunchy as it's toasted.
Thanks to the balsamic onion relish, it's not heavy but fulfilling though it's a large and meaty sandwich.
Freekeh, Currants, Tahini
Freekeh is a cereal food made from roasted green durum wheat, and it's high in fiber, vitamins and minerals.
Freekeh had popping texture but didn't have strong flavor, maybe close to whole grain rice.
Currants were sweet and sour, and tahini was fragrant, but when it's all mixed together, the flavor was bland and I wished it had some kick either with herbs or at least saltiness.
Charred Broccoli, Romesco
There're chopped almond, charred broccoli and the same romesco sauce used in the sandwich.
I enjoyed the nuttiness and sweet vegetable flavors.
Black Beans, Pickled Red Onions, Greek Yogurt
It's a hot dish and it tasted like burrito's filling as the yogurt was adding creaminess and sourness like sour cream.
Not only sandwiches, salad and soup, but also they had sweets.
Baked items.
Ice cream sandwiches.
I got Mah-ze-dahr bar, Strawberry ice cream'wich, and a small Lemonade.
Although I spelled my name, it's typed, "CHIAHIARO."
Lemonade
I forgot to take a photo, but it's a muddy yellow beverage with sweet and sour flavor.
The lemon flavor was stronger than other lemonade that I've had and it's good for a hot day.
Mah-Ze-Dar Bahr
"Mah-ze-dahr" is an Urdu, a language used in Pakistan and the word means something special, for example when you eat something delicious but can't figure it out what it is, you say "mah-ze-dahr," and this word can also be applied to a person or experience, too.
It's like a mix of brownie with pecan nuts and oatmeal cookie.
In the middle, there's a rich chocolate layer and every bite was heavenly, buttery, nutty, chocolatey, and had caramel flavor.
Strawberry Ice Cream'wich
Between peanut butter cookies, there's pink colored strawberry ice cream.
The cookies had sugars and they're crunchy, and the cookie had sweet and salty peanut flavor.
It had saltiness and sweetness, and it's a tasty and large ice cream sandwich.
It took them a while to bring the food with drinks, and even though I ordered things for stay, I'd have loved to receive the drink at the counter instead of waiting for it delivered to the table.
On the other hand, it's nice to secure a spot to eat and wait for the food, otherwise I'd have had to stand and wait for the food, then look for a table to eat at.

イーストトライベッカに出来たウィッチクラフトの新店舗で、正式オープンの前に新しい
注文から2分後、飲み物が出された。
ランチョンマットが敷かれ、緑茶とストローが出された。
甘味料が使われておらず、緑茶の苦味が少しあった。
後味はレモングラスのような酸味とすっきりした味だった。
フリーカは青い小麦を焼いたもので、食物繊維、ビタミン、ミネラルが豊富。
フリーカはプチプチとした食感で特に味はなく、なんとなく玄米の味に似ていた。
カラントは甘酸っぱく、タヒーニは香ばしい香りがしたけれど、全体的に味がぼんやり
していて、ハーブか塩気があったら良かった。
炭火焼ブロッコリー、ロメスコ
刻んだアーモンド、焼き目がついたブロッコリー、サンドイッチに入っていたのと同じ
ロメスコソースが入っていた。
ナッツの香りと野菜の甘みがあって美味しかった。
ブラックビーン、赤タマネギのピクルス、ギリシャヨーグルト
温かい料理で、ヨーグルトの酸味とクリーミーな食感がサワークリームに似ていて、
ブリトーのフィリングのような味だった。
サンドイッチやサラダ、スープだけではなくスイーツもあった。

アイスクリーム サンドイッチ
マザダー バー、ストロベリー アイスクリーム サンドイッチ、レモネードのSを頼んだ。
名前の綴りを伝えたのだけれど、「CHIAHIARO」になっていた。
レモネード
写真を撮り忘れたけれど、くすんだ黄色の甘酸っぱかった。
これまでに飲んだレモネードよりもレモンの味が強く、暑い日にぴったりだった。
マザダー バー
「マザダー(Mah-ze-dahr)はパキスタンで使われているウルドゥー語で「特別な」という
意味を持つ。
例えば、美味しいものを食べたけれど、それが何か分からない時に「(何か分からない
けれど)とても美味しい」と使ったり、人や経験にも使われたりするらしい。
ピーカンナッツ入りのブラウニーとオートミールクッキーを混ぜたようなものだった。
真ん中には濃厚なチョコレートの層があり、どこを食べてもバター、ナッツ、チョコ
レート、キャラメルの味がして、とても美味しかった。
ストロベリー アイスクリーム サンドイッチ
ピーナッツバター クッキーにピンク色のイチゴ アイスクリームが挟まれていた。
クッキーにはシャリシャリした砂糖がかかっていて、ピーナッツの甘さと塩気があった。
アイスクリームには小さな果肉が見え、クッキーにはオートミールが入っていた。
塩っぱさと甘酸っぱさがあり、美味しくて大きなアイスクリームサンドイッチだった。
料理や飲み物が出てくるまでに時間がかかっていたこともあり、店内で食べると伝えた
時に飲み物だけはカウンターですぐにもらえたら良かった。
その反対に、食べる場所を確保して料理を待つことができたので、料理が出来上がるまで
立って待ち、受け取ってからテーブルを探す必要がなかったのは良かった。
