Taste of Times Square 2016

When I was walking home from By CHOLE., I saw some streets were blocked around 3 PM and it's for Taste of Times Square 2016.
We went to the same event last year in the rain, but this year, it's a sunny and bright day.
The system was the same and we bought tickets (1 ticket = 1 dollar) in advance and exchanged at the venders with food, and this year's tickets were green.
"Legendary Burger" from Hard Rock Cafe --- 2 tickets
In the tent, they're grilling bee patties.
When I asked for a photo of him, he said, "If Elmo can make 5 bucks just for a photo, I'd like the same."
But he's kidding (I hope) and I could take a picture of him for gratis.
The mini burger came with a patty, tomato, lettuce, ketchup and BACON.
My husband doesn't eat pork, so I took the 2 bacon strips off and ate it with the burger.
The patty was very juicy as it's made with roughly ground beef, and seasoned well with salt and pepper.
"Beef Empanada" from Havana Central
We forgot that we had tried the same item last year, and we got it again.
It's fried to golden brown.
The ingredients were different, and this year, there're ground beef and potato cubes.
It had sourness of tomato and at the end, it had subtle turmeric flavor.
Live music
"Mini Soft Pretzels" from The Rum House --- 2 tickets
It sounds somewhere we don't go, and it's great to be able to try new things that we would not get a change if hadn't come here.
After we ordered, the staff took this out from a thermal-heated bag.
It's greased and topped with large salt pieces, and it's chewy and soft.
"Seafood Hush Pups" from Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. --- 3 tickets
"Jenny's Mini Desserts" from Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. --- 1 ticket
Hush Pups (a/.k.n. hushpuppies) are cornmeal battered and fried balls.
It's served with a cup of sauce looked like thousand island dressing with chipotle flavor.
As a mayo hater, I gave it a shot and decided not to use it anymore.
It's a mixture of minced shrimp and white fish, and there're parsley and corns.
It had sweetness of seafood and the outside was crispy and had fragrant flavor of cornmeal.
There're 2 flavors; strawberry shortcake and birthday cake, and we got a birthday cake.
There're soft and moist spongecake with custard, topped with whipped cream and colorful sprinkles.
The cup was about the same size as a shot glass and for 1 ticket, equal to 1 dollar, it's a nice petit dessert, especially when you have an extra ticket to use up.
Live music (participatory performance)
I think the venders were set to the 9th Avenue, but this year, the shops were expanded to the 10th.
And each lot had live musicians.
The ticket booth had "cash only" sign on one side and if you want to pay with credit card, you can do so on the other side of the counter.

バイ クロエから歩いて帰っている途中、15時頃に通りが閉鎖されていて、テイスト オブ
タイムズスクエア2016のためだった。
昨年は雨の中このイベントに行ったのだけれど、今年は晴れて明るい日の開催となった。
今年も1枚1ドルの食券を先に買い、売店で商品と交換する仕組みになっていて、今年の
食券は緑色だった。
ハードロックカフェの「レジェンダリーバーガー」 --- 食券2枚
テントではビーフパティがグリルで焼かれていた。
写真を撮って良いか聞くと「（タイムズスクエアにいる偽物の）エルモが一緒に写真を
撮るだけで5ドル稼げるなら、僕も同じがいいな（＝5ドル欲しい）」と言っていた。
それは冗談だった（と思う）で、無料で写真を撮らせてもらった。
ミニバーガーにはパティ、トマト、レタス、ケチャップ、そしてベーコンが乗っていた。
旦那は豚肉を食べないので私がベーコンを2枚取り除き、バーガーと一緒に食べた。
粗挽きだったのでパティはジューシーで、塩胡椒がしっかりと効いていた。
ハバナ セントラルの「ビーフ エンパナーダ」--- 食券2枚
昨年同じものを食べたことをすっかり忘れていて、今年も購入。
きつね色に揚がっていた。
具材は昨年と異なり、牛ひき肉、角切りのジャガイモだった。
トマトの酸味があり、後味にターメリックのような風味があった。
生演奏
ラムハウスの「ミニ ソフトプレッツェル」 --- 食券2枚
お店の名前からして普段私たちが行こうと思わない場所なので、ここに来なければ食べる
機会がなかったものを試せて良かった。
注文すると保温バッグからプレッツェルを出していた。
油が塗ってあり、大きな塩がかかっていて、もっちりと柔らかかった。
ババガンプ シュリンプの「シーフード ハッシュパプ」 --- 食券2枚
ババガンプ シュリンプの「ジェニーズ ミニデザート」 --- 食券1枚
ハッシュパップス（ハッシュパピーズとして知られる）はコーンミールの衣をつけ揚げた
ものを指す。
サウザンドアイランド ドレッシングにチポーレを足したようなソースが添えてあり、マヨ
嫌いの私は少し舐めただけで、それ以上は使わなかった。
エビや白身魚のすり身にパセリやトウモロコシが入っていて、魚介の甘さがあった。
衣はコーンミールで香ばしく、カリッとしていた。
生演奏（お客さん参加型）
昨年は9番通りまでしかお店が出ていなかったと思うけれど、今年は10番通りまで出店して
いて、各区画でお店だけではなくバンドが演奏していた。
食券販売所の片側には「現金のみ」と札がかかっていて、クレジットカードで支払いたい
場合はその札がかかっていない方に進むとカードで支払いが可能だった。

デザートは2種類あり、ストロベリー ショートケーキかバースデーケーキだった。
私たちが選んだバースデーケーキは、しっとりと柔らかいスポンジケーキにカスタード、
生クリームとカラフルなスプリンクルがかかっていた。
カップはショットグラスと同じくらいの大きさで、食券1枚（1ドル）にしては美味しい
デザートだったのと、食券が1枚余っていて使い切りたい時に丁度良いスイーツだった。
