Since I saw a mini sweet tofu stand in the flower shop in Queens on TV, I'd been always interested in going there.
However, it's the terminal of subway line 7, which is about 50 minutes from the apartment so that I didn't feel like going there just for the tofu dessert.
Today, I used an unlimited metro card and took a trip to Queens just for the tofu.

On Roosevelt Avenue, there're so many tiny shops with Chinese letters, and this Soy Bean Chen Flower Shop was one of them.

It really looked like a regular flower shop, but on the right top, there's a sign about sweet tofu, "豆腐花," literally means tofu flower and is pronounced as "Douhua."

"豆浆" means soy milk, and below that, it says "豆腐花," the sweet tofu that I was here for.

The inside was regular flower shop.

I tried to ask the most famous item here, but the guy didn't seem to understand English well so I got the simplest item, "豆腐花," soy bean curd.
He opened a deep pan with the cover was wrapped with a clothes and scooped the soft tofu into a plastic cup.

There're 2 sizes and I got a small, and I could choose the sauce; honey, soy sauce and something else I couldn't tell what it was.
When I hear Douhua, I picture something sweet so that I got the honey and he put the to-go honey in the bag and tied the bag.

In the plastic bag, there're cups of Douhua and honey and a plastic spoon.

This is a small cup but it's like the size of container that is used for delivery food, like Thai curry or some sort of soup.

And the tofu was filled to the very top.

This is the Douhua, 1.50 dollars (tax inclusive) and I thought it's a very generous amount.
(It's even cheaper than subway fare; 2.75 dollars as of November 11, 2015.)

There's no space to sit down to eat, so I ate it standing up near the flower shop.
It's very silky, light, and soft, and it had light sweetness from soy beans and I liked it as it was.

I poured the honey from the mini cup, but it's very watery and looked like yellowish syrup.

It was sweet first then had some heat from ginger, and I think it's honey flavored ginger syrup.
I put all the syrup but I liked it without the syrup.

I think next time, I'll try the soy sauce.

The spoon was wide and sharp and when it touched my lips, it's hurting a bit.
I recommend you try to suck the tofu from the spoon instead of putting the sharp spoon.

テレビでクイーンズの花屋にある小窓で、豆腐スイーツを売っていると見てからずっと
気になっていた。
ただ、7番の地下鉄の最終停車駅近くにあり、アパートからは50分ほどかかるので、豆腐の
ためだけに行くのが面倒で、なかなか行く機会がなかった。
今日は地下鉄の乗り放題のパスを使って、この豆腐を食べるためだけにクイーンズへ
行ってきた。

ルーズベルト通りには、中国語が書かれた小さなお店が沢山並び、このソイビンチェン
フラワーショップもその1つだった。
確かに見た目は花屋そのものだったけれど、右上に看板がかかっていて「豆腐花」と
書かれていた。
看板には豆乳を意味する「豆浆」の文字があり、その下に今回の目的である「豆腐花」が
記載されていた。
店内は通常の花屋と変わりなかった。

1番人気の商品を聞きたかったのだけれど、男性は英語が苦手だったようで、とりあえず
最もシンプルな「豆腐花」を頼んだ。
布に巻かれた蓋を外し、深い鍋から柔らかい豆腐をすくってカップに入れていた。

サイズは2種類あり、私は小さい方を選択し、さらにソースも選べた。
ハチミツ、醤油、もう1つは何かよく分からなかった。
豆腐花と聞くと甘い物を想像するので、ハチミツを選ぶとテイクアウト用のカップに
収めてあったものを袋に入れてくれた。

ビニール袋の中には豆腐花、ハチミツのカップとプラスチックのスプーンが入っていた。
小さなカップを選んだものの、デリバリーでタイカレーやスープを買った時に使われる
ような大きさだった。
この豆腐花は税込1.50ドルで、値段に対してかなり大量に入っていると思った。
（2015年11月11日現在、2.75ドルの地下鉄代よりも安い）

座って食べる場所がなかったので、花屋の近くで立って食べた。
とても滑らかで軽く、柔らかく、大豆の甘さがあり、このままで美味しかった。

小さな容器からハチミツをかけたのだけれど、とても水っぽく、黄色がかったシロップと
いう印象だった。
最初は甘く、ショウガのピリッとした味がしたので、ハチミツ味のショウガシロップだと
思う。
全部かけてしまったのだけれど、私はシロップをかけない方が好きだった。
次回は醤油も試してみたいと思う。

スプーンは幅が広く尖っていたので、くちびるに当たると痛かった。
豆腐花を食べる時はスプーン全体を口に入れず、豆腐を吸うように食べるのがお勧め。
