My husband gives me surprises, and when we used to live in Tokyo, he went to buy sweets from departmehtstores and supermarkets.
As we're back in Tokyo, he did the tradition going to Isetan, a department store in Shinjuku.

This is a cream puff holding a pudding, and it's from Clover.

The cream puff was cross cut on the top and I could see a mini pudding inside.

There're custard cream with vanilla beans underneath the whipped cream holding the pudding.

The pudding wasn't that tall and it's slightly thicker than my index finger.
It's a very Japanese pudding, which I mean it's firm and flabby as many of them contain gelatin while others are steamed.

It's a unique and tasty crew puff though it's hard to eat.


旦那はサプライズをくれることがある。
東京に住んでいる時、デパートやスーパーでよくスイーツを買ってきていて、今回東京に
滞在していた時に、昔のように新宿の伊勢丹でスイーツを買ってきてくれた。

これはクローバーで販売しているシュークリームで、中にプリンが入っていた。

シュークリームの皮は十字にカットされていて、小さなプリンが見えた。
プリンを支えていた生クリームの下に、バニラビーンズ入りのカスタードクリームが
入っていた。

プリンはあまり高さがなく、人差し指よりも少し厚みがある程度だった。
日本のプリンという食感だった。
蒸して固めるのと異なり、日本の多くのプリンはゼラチンで固めてあるため少し硬く
ブヨブヨしている。

美味しく変わったシュークリームだったけれど、食べにくかった。
