My husband found a new hot snack called "Purin Man" at Family Mart launched on January 20, 2015.
Purin is pudding, and man here means steamed bun.
I've seen Purin Man before so that I'm not sure if it's Family Mart's first ever pudding flavored bun or just they changed the recipe and relaunched it.

I could be wrong, but I think they've changed the design of the wrap.
It used to have an old-fashioned or retro look, and the current paper wrap has English in gray-tones.

It's got golden brown color on the top but it's not burnt.
The dough was light yellow.

After one bite, there's smooth custard and it had rich egg flavor.

Next bite, the caramel sauce was found.
It's said that they used slightly bitter caramel sauce, but with sweet custard cream and sweet, soft, and fluffy bun, I didn't find any bitterness.

The sheet underneath the Purin Man had a drawing or custard pudding with drizzling caramel sauce on the top and said "プリンまん (Purin Man)."

旦那がファミリーマートで2015年1月20日に新発売された「プリンまん」を見つけた。
プリンまんは今までに見たことがあるので、ファミリーマートで初めて発売されたのか、
それともレシピを変えて新発売したのかは分からない。

包み紙のデザインが変わったように感じた。
今まではもっとレトロな昔ながらの包み紙だったけれど、現在のものは灰色の英語が
印刷されていた。

淡い黄色の生地の上には茶色になっていたけれど、焦げてはいなかった。
1口食べると滑らかなカスタード生地が出てきて、卵の風味が強かった。
もう1口食べると真ん中にカラメルソースが入っていた。
ほんのり苦みがあるカラメルソースを使ったらしいけれど、甘さの強いカスタードと
甘みのある柔らかいふんわりした生地で苦さは感じなかった。

プリンまんの下に敷かれていた紙にはカラメルソースが垂れているカスタードプリンの
絵と、「プリンまん」の文字が載っていた。
