Hamantashen From Whole Foods

We looked for hamantashen at Whole Foods the other day but they had none, yet last night, my husband found it's sold again.
Whole Foods produce this pasty almost year-round.
Hamantashen (singular form is hamantash or hamentasch) is a traditional pastry for a Jewish holiday "Purim" in spring.
Purim is to commemorates freedom of Jewish people in the ancient Persian Empire.
Haman, royal vizier to King Ahasuerus, planned to massacre all the Jews in the empire, but his plans failed by Mordecai and Esther, who followed God's will to protect Jews.
And all the Jews were freed and it's to celebrate deliverance.
Triangle is a symbolic shape as Haman was wearing a triangle hat, and to celebrate the freedom, they eat this triangle shaped pastry.
Traditional fillings in the center are puppy seeds, prunes, date and nuts, but there're various types of fillings.
This filling was raspberry, and I've seen a lot of this filling other than prunes or date.
At the bottom, it's lightly brown and the dough itself was like a shortbread cookie.
The dough tasted like soft and slightly gooey shortbread cookie as it's buttery and rich, and the filling had thick and soft-gummy texture though it looked like jam.
Salted dough enhanced sweetness of the filling, but thanks to the sourness, it's not too sweet in the end.

この前ホールフーズでハマンタッシェンが売っておらず、昨晩旦那がラックに並んでいた
のを見て買ってきた。
ホールフーズではこのお菓子もほぼ通年販売している。
ハマンタッシェン（単数形はハメンタッシュ）はユダヤ教の「プリム」という春の
お祭りで食べられる伝統的なお菓子。
プリムはペルシャ王アハシュエロスの高官で、ユダヤ人の虐殺を計画した人物。
ただ、この計画はモルデカイと、ユダヤ人を守ろうとする神の意志を受けたエステルに
よって阻まれ、ユダヤ人は解放された。
プリムは三角形の帽子を被っていたとされることから、三角形のお菓子を食べて自由を
祝うらしい。
中心に入っている伝統的なフィリングは、ケシの実やプルーン、デーツ、ナッツなどが
あり、その他にも様々な種類がある。
このハマンタッシェンはラズベリーフィリングで、プルーンやデーツよりもよく見かける
フィリング。
底は薄く焼き色が付いていて、ショートブレッドクッキーのような見た目だった。
生地は柔らかく少しふにゃっとし、濃厚なバター風味でショートブレッドクッキーの
ような味だった。
フィリングはジャムのような見た目とは異なり、柔らかめのグミのような固さがあった。
塩味のする生地がフィリングの甘さを引き立てていたけれど、酸味もあったので甘過ぎ
ないハマンタッシェンだった。
