The Kati Roll Company

(Japanse follows. /

A friend of ours mentioned a kati roll restaurant in Greenwich Village called "The Kati Roll Company."
Kati Roll is a street food originally from Kolkata, India, and it's a meat and vegetables wrapped in a paratha bread.
* Paratha is a flat bread.

we got there around 5:20 PM.

On the wall, there's a large menu board --- also there's small one on the cash register counter.

On the wall, there're many Indian posters.

There's a refrigerator filled with drinks.
They had major sodas in cans and bottles, and also there're lassi.

I ordered #2 Aloo Masala Roll.
My husband ordered #7 Chicken Tikka Roll and #10 Unda Beef Roll.

Less than 5 minutes, the rolls were ready.
I asked if they could make it spicy so that they gave me a cup of diced hot pepper.

Aloo Masala Roll
It's spicy mashed potatoes with tomatoes and green peppers.

As it's described "spicy mashed potatoes," it had a subtle spiciness.
The mashed potatoes were half smooth and half chunky.
Vegetables were raw or very lightly cooked, but I only found purple onions and green peppers, no tomatoes.
The paratha bread was chewy and fragrant as it's grilled.

This is the spicy topping.

It added heat but not burning hot.

Unda Beef Roll and Unda Chicken Roll.

Unda Beef Roll
It's a beef tikka roll with a layer of beaten eggs.
I saw green pepper and purple onions with beef, and thin layer of egg.
The beef was cut into pieces so that it's easy to eat.

Chicken Tikka Roll
It's listed as grilled chicken cubes, marinated in yogurt and spices.
All the chicken cubes were breast meat, but not dried at all.
The vegetables were again purple onions and green peppers.

It's warm and tasty when it's cooked fresh.
1 kati roll wouldn't have been enough, but 2 kati rolls would be too much.
And I felt it's a little bit pricy.

Aloo Masala Roll: 4.50 dollars
Unda Beef Roll: 6.50 dollar
Chicken Tikka Roll: 6.00 dollars
(All before tax)
