Curry At Kashimir
カシミールのカレー

I heard there's a good Indian/Pakistan curry place called "Kashimir" in Shinminato city, Toyama, and I became more interested in the place when I heard the appearance of the place.
The restaurant looks like a shanty and it's easily missed when you first head there.
I visited there today with my parents and my dad missed the place, too.
There's a sign but if you're driving, it might be hard to find it as it's not located on the ground so that difficult to see it.
It's spelled "Pakisutani Restaurant Kashimir," and I started wondering why it's Pakisutani like ronaji but didn't ask.
Maybe next time...
To me, the appearance wasn't like barn but like an office of secondhand cars as the parking lot is vast and it's not paved but just small rocks.
When it rains, the parking lot get muddy they say.
We got there around 6:30 PM, and there're 2 customers who seemed regulars of the restaurant.
There're maybe 15 tables and 2 ACs on the wall across the wall.
Inside, it's very clean looked bright.
The chairs were incredibly heavy somehow.
Menu had 3-4 pages and curry had 2 pages; one for meat and the other for vegetables.
I chose saag (spinach) with mutton and plain naan asked to make the curry a little bit spicier.
You can choose the spiciness from sweet, normal (which is a bit spicy-hot), spicier and very spicy.
Soon salad was brought to share with 3 of us.
We didn't order salad, so I guess it's a part of the meal.
When we finished the salad, our plates were brought.

Saag Curry with Mutton
It's slightly spicy as I asked them to make it a little bit spicier, so I should ask for very spicy next time.
It's not only spicy (a bit spicier), but also I tasted a lot of spices in it.
In the pot, there're a bunch of chopped spinach and the color was not all green but brown curry with green color.
To my surprise, there're tons of pieces of mutton.
Wherever I had this type of curry, usually there're only a couple of small chunks, so it's like mutton with saag curry, like the meat was the main part of this dish.
Plain Naan (one for me, one for my mom)
It's very large, hot and fluffy.
The largest part was bigger than my hand, so I assume the widest width was about 25cm (9.8 inch) and the length was 30cm (12 inch).
The dough itself had sweet flavor and was chewy, the bottom was crispy and the surface was shiny.
I loved this naan as it was, and of course it went so good with the curry.
After that, they served service drinks of the choice of mango juice or chai.
Chai
It's sweet milk tea with subtle spices.
I thought it'd had very strong ginger and cinnamon flavor but it was almost regular sweet milk tea.
When I drank, it left a bit of tang from ginger.
My dad had mango juice and it's very thick as if it's mango 100% puree.
Some said that the staffs weren't fluent in Japanese but the staff who took care of us had no trouble understanding my Japanese with normal speed.
They also offered a doggy bag for the curry I couldn't finish. (yay!)

富山県新湊市に「カシミール」という美味しいインディアン / パキスタンカレーのお店があると聞き、
外観が掘立小屋のようだということでさらに興味が沸いた。
初めて行く人は見逃してしまうほど、レストランには見えないらしい。
今晩両親と行ってきたけれど、父もお店に気づかず通過してしまった。
看板はあるものの地面の高さではなくお店の屋根の辺りにあるため、運転席からは見つけにくい。
広い駐車場は舗装されておらず砂利と言うこともあり、お店の外観は小屋と言うよりは中古車の
販売店のようだった。
また、雨の日はぬかるむらしい。。。
お店の看板には「Pakisutani Restaurant Kashimir / パキスタン料理 カシミール」と書かれていて、
なぜPakisutani とローマ字のような綴りなのか気になったまま店員に聞かなかったので、次回
聞いてみようと思う。
18：30頃着くと、店内には2人の常連らしきお客さんがいた。
店内には15卓ほどのテーブルがあり、クーラーが壁に2つ設置されていた。
店内は綺麗で明るい印象。
なぜか椅子がとても重たかった。
3～4ページあるメニューのうち2ページはカレーに充てられていて、1ページはお肉、もう1ページは
野菜カレーが載っていた。
私はサグカレー（ホウレンソウのカレー）のマトン（羊肉）入りを「少し辛めで」とお願いし、
プレーンナンを注文した。
辛さは甘口、普通（少し辛め）、少し辛口、大辛から選択可能。
すぐに3人で分ける大きさのサラダが運ばれてきた。
サラダは注文していないので、おそらくセットになっているのだと思う。
サラダを食べ終わった頃にカレーが運ばれてきた。
サグカレー（マトン入り）
「少し辛く」と言ったため本当に少しだけ辛かったので、次回は大辛で注文したいと思う。
カレーは辛いだけでなく、色々なスパイスの味がした。
ホウレンソウのみじん切りが入っていて、真緑ではなく茶色のカレーに緑が入っているような色。
驚いたことにマトンがゴロゴロと大量に入っていたこと。
今まで食べたカレーのお店のほとんどが3個ほど小さな塊が入っているだけだったので、
これはマトンがメインかのような量だった。
プレーンナン
熱々でふかふかした、とても大きなナンだった。
1番幅が広い部分は手よりも大きかったので、25センチほどあったと思う。
長さは30センチ程度。
もっちりした生地に甘みがあって裏面はカリッとし、表面はツヤがあった。
そのまま食べても美味しく、もちろんカレーとも相性が良かった。
サービスドリンクがあり、マンゴジュースかチャイを選べたのでチャイにした。
チャイ
甘いミルクティーでスパイスの香りがほんのりした。
ショウガやシナモンの強烈な味がするミルクティーかと思ったら、ほぼ普通の甘いミルクティー。
飲むとショウガのピリッとした味が少し残った。
父のマンゴージュースは果汁100%なのか、とても濃厚でピューレのようだった。
日本語があまり通じないと聞いていたけれど、今日注文をとっていた店員は通常の速度で話しても
分かっていたので、私たちは特に問題なく注文できた。
食べきれなかったカレーは持ち帰り用に詰めてくれた。
