Maple Caramel Flavored Tofu Tasted Still Awkward
メープルキャラメル味の豆腐は、やっぱり...な味だった

The other day, I tried Banana flavored tofu bought at a supermarket in Montreal, and it wasn't a pleasant dessert though it claims it's a tofu dessert.
A couple of days ago, we found a "Maple Caramel" flavored tofu from same brand, and I insisted I needed to try it though my husband kind of stopped me.
Today, I tried "Maple Caramel" flavored tofu.
The package was same as the Banana flavored one and had 2 trays of 150g tofu.
On the lid, there's a image of a maple leaf in red and 3 caramel candies.
The tofu itself.
Maple Caramel tofu dessert was beige like maple syrup mixed with milk.
It had very sweet flavor, but NO real maple syrup is used but natural flavor.
* no coloring.

I tried a spoonful tofu to start with.

It had maple syrup sweet flavor for 5-6 seconds, but it started disappearing and having more and more soy bean flavor in the mouth.
At first, it definitely tasted like sweet maple syrup but by the time you swallow it, it's already regular tofu.
And the texture was a little bit rough like tofu as well as Banana flavored tofu.
To compare with Banana flavored one, this Maple Caramel flavored tofu is more edible.

以前バナナ味の豆腐をモントリオールのスーパーで見つけ試したものの、
「豆腐デザート」の名に相応しくない妙な味がした。
数日前、同じブランドから出ている「メープルキャラメル味」の豆腐を発見し、
旦那が止めたにもかかわらず、食べてみたいと言って購入。
そして今日、そのメープルキャラメル味の豆腐を食べてみた。
パッケージはバナナ豆腐と同じで、150g のトレーが2個くっついている。
上部には赤色の楓の葉と、キャラメルが3個が載っている。
豆腐自体はベージュで、メープルシロップと牛乳を混ぜたような色。
とても甘い香りがしたが、この豆腐も本物のメープルシロップは使用せず、
天然香料を使っている。
* 着色料なし
スプーンですくって一口食べてみたところ、
5～6秒は甘いメープルシロップの味がしたけれど、徐々に香りが消え、
普通の豆腐の味が口に広がった。
最初は間違いなくメープルシロップの甘さがあったのに、
飲みこむ頃にはただの豆腐味。
食感はバナナ味の豆腐と同じく、滑らかだけれどザラッとしたものが
舌に残る感覚。
ただ、バナナ味の豆腐と比べると、このメープルキャラメル味の方が
まだ食べられる味だった。
原材料：水、大豆、砂糖、天然香料、硫酸カルシウム。
* 硫酸カルシウムは凝固剤
