東ハトからゴールデンあみじゃが ビーフコンソメ味がコンビニ限定で登場

Tohato, a Japanese food company specializing in snack food, launched conbini only potato snack called "Golden Amijaga Beef Consomme" on January 6, 2014.

Amijaga here means this potato chips are cut thick and have mesh-patternswhich create crunchiness.

On the back side, it describes the taste and the concept.

They used rich flavored beef consomme with onions from Awaji island, where onions tend to get sweeter than other areas, and spices to make this chips addictive.
And the thick and mesh cut chips can create very rich flavor as you bite.

This is the actual potato chip with Amijaga's characteristic cut.

The thickness was about 5 ~ 7mm so it's pretty thick.
However, as it's mesh cut, it's easy to bite and enjoy the crispy and chunky texture.

It tasted a little bit weird because the beef consomme didn't have much flavor but saltiness.
Some animal meat soup stock flavor was there but it's not strong enough to tell it's beef.
I could smell and taste onions but as it's not a real onion, it's hard to tell if it's got sweetness to it.

Except it's mesh-cut potato chips, it's nothing special.

東ハトからコンビニ限定「ゴールデンあみじゃが ビーフコンソメ味」が
2014年1月6日に発売された。

あみじゃが＝網状にカットされたじゃがいものことで、独特の歯ごたえが楽しめる。
裏面には商品説明があり、濃厚で深い味わいが楽しめるビーフコンソメ味をベールに
淡路島産たまねぎと香辛料をくわえて、後引く味わいに仕上げています。噛むほどに
濃厚な味が楽しめるあみじゃがです。
また、淡路島産のたまねぎは、他のたまねぎと比べて甘みが強いと言われているらしい。

袋を開けてみると、イメージ画像通りのあみじゃがが入っていた。
厚さは5ミリ～7ミリ程度でかなり分厚いけれど、
網状になっているので噛みやすく、ガリッとした歯ごたえがある。

ビーフコンソメは塩味が強いだけで、特に香りはなかった。
お肉のスープストックであることは分かったけれど、ビーフかどうか分からない。
たまねぎの味や香りはあったものの、本物のたまねぎを食べているわけではないので、
甘みがあったかどうか不明。

網状であること以外は、あまり驚きのないお菓子だった。
