Trejo's Tacos

Actor Danny Trejo opened his tacos restaurant in March, 2016 in La Brea, LA.
When we're in LA last weekend, we visited the restaurant and also the new donuts shop, Trejo's Coffee and Donuts, that opened on May 16, 2017.
It's like fast food restaurant as you order, pay, grab a seat and wait till a staff brings you the food.
As the space inside is limited, customers were told to wait in line outside till the cashier is ready.
Inside, there're 7 tables with 1 long continuous wooden bench and the other side of the tables had 1 chair each.
The outside had larger tables and one of them was like a bar counter without chairs.
There're shades thanks to parasols, but it's still really hot outside.
There're 2 kinds of hot sauce on the table.
Horchata
Date sweetened horchata and it's topped with cinnamon powder.
Horchata is made of ground almonds, sesame or rice, and honey and spices are added.
They use almond milk for the base, and it's silky, smooth, and refreshing as it's not too sweet.
Chips And Guacamole
The chips were warm and lightly salted.
There're serrano peppers, lime, pistachios and cilantro, and the avocado wasn't completely mashed but chunky.
Tacos
Mexi-Falafel Taco
Kale, cashew cream, picked onions.
Falafel didn't taste like regular falafel but instead, it's like curry flavored potatoes with beans.
Cashes cream was runny and I wish it's either tahini or hummus since they're vegan, too.
Steak Asada Taco
Citrus marinade, pepita pesto, slaw.
Pepita is pumpkin seeds, according to my search, but it tasted like chimichurri to me.
The beef was a bit dry.
Fried Chicken Taco
Served in a lettuce wrap, pico, slaw, chipotle cream.
The breading was crispy and good, but I wish it's breast meat instead of thigh.
Chipotle cream was rich and it taste like sour cream and mayo.
They had goods, too.
I got a beanie.
Overall, they're pricey and I thought this place was for "rich people eat gentrified tacos" and I'm not sure why many praised this place for the flavor.
Especially for tacos, I'm used to those served with 2 tortillas so that just to have one tortilla was a bit awkward.
When 2/3 of the plate is finished, they ask if we're done and take the plates away, and I felt like I was rushed though the space wasn't full at all.
Though the price, they're nothing special and not that flavorful, and I've had cheaper yet tastier tacos so that I don't plan to come back.
They have valet parking only and if you want to park on your own, you have park on the street.

先週末ロスにいたので、このタコスのお店と2017年5月16日に開店したトレホス
コーヒー＆ドーナツに行ってきた。
ファストフード店のように注文、支払いを済ませ、好きな席に座り、店員が料理を持って
来るのを待つ。
店内は小さいので、レジが空くまで列になって外で待つことになっていた。
店内にはテーブルが7卓あり、片側はひと続きになっている木のベンチで、反対側は各
テーブルに椅子が1脚ずつ置いてあった。
外にはもっと大きなテーブルがあり、そのうち1つはバーカウンターのように椅子が
なかった。
パラソルがあって日陰になっていたものの、かなり暑かった。
テーブルにはソースが2種類置いてあった。
オルチャータ
デーツで甘くしたオルチャータで、シナモンが振ってあった。
オルチャータは砕いたアーモンドやゴマ、米などを使った飲み物で、蜂蜜やスパイスで
味付けされたもの。
アーモンドミルクがベースになっていて、滑らかですっきりし、甘すぎなかった。
チップス アンド グァカモレ
チップスは軽く塩が振ってあり、温かかった。
セラノペッパー、ライム、ピスタチオ、パクチーが使われていて、アボカドは完全に
潰したものではなく、ゴロゴロとしたものだった。
タコス
メキシ-ファラフェル タコ
ケール、カシュークリーム、オニオンピクルス
ファラフェルは普通のファラフェルの味ではなく、カレーで味付けしたポテトのようで、
豆も入っていた。
かシュークリームはさらさらしていて、タヒーニ（ゴマのペースト）かフムスが使われて
いたら良かった。（どちらもビーガン料理によく使われる）
ステーキ アサーダ タコ
シトラスマリネ、ペピータペスト、スロー
ペピータとはカボチャの種らしいけれおd、チミチュリのような味だった。
牛肉は少し乾いていた。
フライドチキン タコ
レタスラップ、ピコ、スロー、チポーレクリーム。
衣はサクサクしていて良かったけれど、もも肉が使われていたのが残念。
チポーレクリームは濃厚でサワークリームやマヨネーズのような味がした。
グッズも販売されていた。
ニット帽を買った。
全体的に料金が高く、「お金持ちが高級化されたタコスを食べるお店」という印象で、
高評価な理由がよく分からない味だった。
特にタコスは、トルティーヤが2枚出されるのに慣れているため、1枚だけだったのが
妙に感じた。
料理の3分の2を食べた頃に店員が「食べ終わりました？」と聞かれてお皿を下げられる
ので、店内は混んでいなかったので急かされている気がした。
味も値段の割にものすごく美味しいわけではなく、安くてもっと美味しいタコスがある
ため、再訪はない。
バレーパーキングのみで、自分で駐車する場合は路上駐車になる。
