(Japanese follows. /
Grimaldi's is one of the famous pizza restaurants in NYC and there're several locations in New York and one in Connecticut.
The most well-known restaurant should be the one under Brooklyn Bridge, but we went to the Manhattan location.
They only sell by pies, not slices.
Also "no strollers," apparently.
The church-looking restaurant was not too small but a bit tight, especially near the door.
Menu
Cracked red peppers, garlic, oregano and salt.
Depending on who you get, the staff could be kind or not.
Ours didn't come to let us sit but instead, he pointed a table to sit, then he threw straws at the table when he brought drinks.
Grimaldi's is known for using coal brick ovens.
Small Regular Pizza
My husband doesn't like basil so that this small amount was good for him, but to me, it looked like they just sprinkled a tiny bit.
The ratio of crushed tomatoes and mozzarella cheese was about half and half, but some slices got lots of cheese while others had mainly tomatoes.
Each slice was about 18cm (7.08 inch) or larger.
Thing crust.
Bottom
The slice was thin and soft enough to fold into half.
The pizza had crunchy edges with chewy center, and the bottom and edge were slightly burnt-fragrant flavor from the coral oven.
Small Calzone
It looked like they have folded the small pizza dough.
This calzone had nice golden brown surface.
Each strip was quite heavy and filled with cheese and basil.
Calzone was heavy on dough, and the filling was mozzarella, ricotta and fresh basil.
The tomato sauce served with this also had some basils.
It's very cheesy and rich, and one piece was enough for me, even with the refreshing tomato sauce.
We took leftovers home, but they didn't pack the tomato sauce so that I felt like I was eating a doughy cheesy pieces when I reheated.
Small Regular Pizza: 14 dollars
Small Calzone: 16 dollars

All the pizzas I've reviewed: A List Of Pizzas I Have Had
